Yeah, I was a little surprised to see it on there lol!

I got real busy with other things over the last month or so, I've alomost done with roughing out a new Nostromo sketchup model that I can use to cut some sections and start thinking about the interiors.

Command module seems a little short on details (no decals on the ship either) but all in all a wonderful job into restoring that beast Cool

The only parts that niggle me are the forward satellite dish area and the forward 'docking tube' which doesn't seem to be at the right angle.

I totaly agree with you Graham, the angle of the docking tube isn"t correct at all... I don't understand why the hell they've glued it this way... It really sucks if you consider the great amount of work they've put in the restoration... it's like having a dead fly atop a beautiful cake...

Shocked

Regarding the interior blueprints, count me in to help you the best I can... This is a very exciting project !!!

Awesome!! I should have some hull outlines up very soon by mid next week if not sooner.

By the way Fred, THANK YOU indeed for your kind words on Dennis' Fan Documentary regarding the prints. Very much enjoyed watching the documentary, I especially liked the space jockey model.

There's one fiddley bit here I'm trying to work on, the 'wing' area between main hull and nacelle I have to sort out, but this is where it's heading; looks real basic at the moment, but I'll be able to do cuts through the main body at any angle and get an outline of the hull at any point.

the red lines are where the hull is at a given point in the section. a couple of lines shouldn't be there, but they're good enough right now to print and scribble on. and thanks to jtp for help on the wing area.

I think the best way to start building the interior plans would be to try to determine where the floor of each deck is exactly located in the 3D volume...

What do you think, Graham ?

Agreed Fred; I thin the way I'd approach it is to print each one of these images on an A4/8 1/2"x11" sheet, then get some tracing paper.
We'd need to gather up all the images we have so far on the interiors, such as any set design plans.

The tracing paper can be used to very loosely sketch out the interiors using the diagrams above as an underlay - rather than worry about the interiors of each room, instead show them as blocks or spaces and work out what spaces logically go where, then start blocking in corridors, using the set plans and the movie as reference. Detail not important at this stage.

Looking at signage on screen captures from the movie can give an idea of any nearby areas and what lays beyond, out of shot.

Any habitable life support areas to the upper front of the ship, with electrical / mechanical spaces to the lower rear part of the ship, not forgetting the huge reactor area seen from the Engine Room windows, and the fact that the pistons & hydraulics would (when the undercarriage is stowed) poke up through decks A & B.

Tricky areas to figure out are:
-Where Ripley appears from when she descends the ladder when Kaneis brought back aboard, and she fights with Lambert (Imfirmary/Autodoc are on Deck A according to set plans).
-Where Lambert and Parker descend the ladder to in the corridor behind Narcissus (they would end up outside the Hull in space) after splitting with Ripley to get oxygen cylinders.

Once all the spaces are figured out, then look at the nitty gritty and figure out other cool unseen rooms, but being sure to keep with the Nostromo character & aesthetic. Cool
