Interesting...

I find the whole "Certificate of Authenticity" thing amusing, simply because most of these COE's mean squat without an actual studio endorsing it...

Very interesting indeed. It looks like both are said to be "backup" copies that had been made for production.

Maybe some people more in the know will chime in.

It looks like he sold something in the past that was supposed to be production made as well.

Interesting that they should show up now - WorldCon really made people clean out their closets! The attached pictures are interesting - the shot of Ridley with the blaster - looks like no dimple; Ford's pinky tucked in on the almost too short grips, the lack of profiling on the grip buttplate on the stunt blaster. I'm sure these pictures have been around, I just haven't seen them before. Also, unlike the Sidkit and others, the checkering has no defining border - it just becomes un-checkered grip material.

Franz Bolo at another forum posted this link to pictures of the items from the auction. They had been originally posted by Proplica at the RPF.

Here is the link of Proplicas post:

Some great pictures and insight.

If I am not mistaken this is the fellow who works for, or worked for Planet Hollywood in Orlando.

The current high bidder is Craig Kovach aka bonevalley, the guy behind the incredible "metal initiative" BR gun.

I thought I'd try my hand at winning the auction. But alas, all I managed to do is drive the price up....

HAHAHA.

Well, it is ebay!! If you don't want to pay the price don't set your max bid above what you can afford!! BTW what the hell do you think the reserve is for that auction??? It's already far beyond what I'd of asked for em.

It does seem an aweful lot for a couple of old resin grips and a corroded styer magazine.

What's interesting to me is that they didn't chop up the magazine, they just emptied it out. I would not have figured that.

Here is to hoping the fabled "reload" scene was actually filmed. I have it on good authority it was never filmed. Sad

So I won, but I was shy of the reserve. Maybe he'll make a deal with me.... Unless, of course, the BR mafia gets to him first.

Cool

I can only wish you luck John. I hope he does make a deal with you, but who knows. My fingers are crossed!

I hate bidding against a reserve! You win, but no prize. I was a bit surprised his reserve was over $1000. More like dissapointed I guess.

Also expected more bid participants. I dunno if that didn't happen because it hit a grand and was still reserved or BR fans want more that grip n' clip for their bucks.

John,

Just curious, any further contact or deals struck?

Is anything known as to what happened to them?

Steve

He wanted much more than I was willing to pay, so we amicably ended our discussions.
