By a strange coincidence, I received those 2 yesterday from 2 different sources...
The larger one was recreated from a Syd Mead concept, then built and painted by Shawn Morgan. (BTW, Shawn is an amazing craftsman and a very nice guy !) The smaller one is a Sidkit that was built and painted by my friend Manchu... (he's a nice guy, too !)
Both are gorgeous, I can't stop handling them every 10 minutes like an idiot !
Hope you'll agree ! (on the fact that they're gorgeous... not on the fact that I'm an idiot !!!)

Wow! It's like Christmas.
I absolutely LOVE that Mead concept blaster. Do you know if the maker still produces them? _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

Absolutely gorgeous!!!!
I find it funny that ridley said ( in Future Noir) that the black hole gun would offer a more "dignified" demise |

Love, love, love the mead blaster.
The COP from sid is also good work. I'm happy that wasn't Deckard's blaster too.
I didn't know Shawn was still doing these. Cool. _________________ I don't have enough blasters! |

I totaly agree... When you hold it, it almost completely disappears in your hand !!! You look like you're pointing some kind of giant metalic chewing gum pack instead of a gun !!!

Very Nice, I have been bugging Shawn for one of his for years now. I am going to have to bug him some more.
I have the Steven Dane Concept COP gun myself and have been thinking about getting an ankle holster to go with it. In just about all of the script versions Deckard has an extra gun on his ankle he pulls in the final showdown. As a secondary gun it doesn't look so bad anymore.

Great use of engraving on the SM concept gun. Great job on it overall. The thing always reminds me of a camera. I remember looking through the BR scetchbook when the movie was reeased and thinking how wierd it and the other looked. I remember a whole pile of those scetchbooks at the mall bookstore. Wish I knew to pick one up. |

Is there a chance that someone will offer the Cop blaster for sale in the near future? |

A built-up Mead is still high on my want list - I sure wish someone would do a run of them.

This week I had some spare time (at last !) to start my new (little) project :
CONCEPT COP 357 "BULLFROG"
I had planned this for a looooong time, all I needed was... time !
I wasn't totaly happy with Sidkit's Concept Cop, mainly because of the barrel (too thin). Since I had purchased 2 and only built 1 and also had a spare Marushin Cop 357, I decided it could be interesting to mix the Marushin Barrel with Sid's gun body...
I also took inspiration into Stephen Dane's concept sketches for Deckard's gun, of course !
Here is the first step : I've drilled some holes here and there in the handle (to add real screws... and other things), did some sandpaper work to ajust the pieces together... It's coming along pretty nicely...
Next step : More sandpaper (and putty) work, glue some wiggets on the right side of the gun to make it look special (it's supposed to fire "Black Hole cartridges" after all) and, if everything looks good, the first coat of primer...
Stay tuned !
Fred
