|
|
I decided to build up my wonderful new Rick Ross Snub and Magnum kits as custom BR Universe guns. I spent a lot of time getting my metal Sidkit blaster as accurate to the Worldcon pics as possible, so I thought I'd have a little fun with these kits.
The Snub is a fantastic design by Rick. Its compact size and sleek curves made me think think that it is something that maybe a lady of LA 2019 might carry as conceal defense, and since Rachel is definiteley going to need protecting at the end of the movie, I figured I'd assign it to her
The built-up snub features pearl grips and blue leds replacing the red ones in the ammo chamber. I also added working leds to the custom 'laser pointer'.
I should be starting work on the custom Magnum build-up this week.
Any comments or questions welcome

Very nice! The grips that you did, are they the ones that came with it, or did you make new ones? Also, I cannot tell from the pics, but is the black paint speckled with something or is it just the flash?
I look forward to seeing the magnum!

I recast the grips, so I can swap them out if I want
Yes, the black parts have a very slight wash of silver leaf rub 'n buff. The whole piece is very lightly weathered, as I wanted more of an 'off the shelf' look.
I'll be shooting for a more dirty used look on the magnum. |

Very nice!
It's funny but I am currently working on a SNUB built-up with pearl grips for myself. I guess telepathy really does work.
When I made the SNUB back in 2001, I sold the kits with blue LEDs. They were such a pain to deal with because they were sensitive to static discharge. I abandoned the idea of using them in the 2006 release for that reason.
I really like what you've done with this one, though.

Thanks guys
It was pointed out to me on the RPF that the grips were on crooked, so...
I think that's better. |

Cool! The pearl grips are a nice touch. _________________ Wait; I'm having one of those things! You know; a headache with pictures? |

Very nice!
Is the pearling from casting or paint? Sure looks like it's embedded.
I did a set of pearl grips for a standard PKD however I keep playing with irridescence coloring in the paint so they are rapidly becoming more like they were made from polished abalone. Which is fine and typical of how I stray from intended purpose of project. |
