Hey all!
I'm in need of a good program for screen capping. Something FREE would be ideal but I'm not holding my breath on that.
I have always just taken movies to my friend Jay's place and let him cap different scene's for me, but now I'm in Oregon and he's in Washington and it's a bit of a road trip.
Jay suggests hooking a VCR up to my lap-top but I already have movie playing ability on my DELL Lap-top so, is there a way to simply do screen caps from that?
I feel like a BOZO sometimes with what I don't know but it doesn't hurt to ask I suppose.
Any suggestions out there?

If you are talking about screen cap from a video, use SMPLAYER. It's free, and support almost all formats, including the new MKV container (used by HD-DVD and BluRay ripped movies, for ex... Very Happy). Is the software I use everyday to take snaps from Final Cut.

Here you have:

Internet Explorer issues, I think. popup blockers and so on.... I've used Firefox and had put the file in my site. No virus found, for sure!

Here you have a direct link to the file:

Cheers

Thanks for the direct link Joan!
I have been able to download it and play a movie...now I'm trying to figure out how to make a screen cap with it.
The feature that reads "screenshot", is that the one that takes a snap of the image on screen? If it is, where does it send the pic?

Change your preferences with Ctrl-P. You will see in "General" Tab an option to do this.

Smile

Pics are stored in PNG format, but this is not a matter at all. You can convert them to JPG or TIFF format or whatelse with a bunch of programas. I use Photoshop all the time, but this is a fly-killing cannon to convert files and no more! Very Happy

He He... 16 years ago I worked in a Shareware magazine for 5 years.... Every day I must take screen snapshots from dozens of aaplications, games, and so on... and test, too, all the software... Screen capture tools are a must in this scene. And videosnaps are a nightmare... till now!

PowerDVD also works with DVD movies and some MPEG files, but SMPlayer is awesome, flawless and you can control palyback with mouse wheel. Try it. Change setup preferences and give it only a few seconds in each movement. I use it everytime.

Glad to help you!
