After watching the DVD extras I came to the conclusion that one of Deckard's lamps (and Tyrell's in his bedroom) was made of agate or marble, I looked and found a lamp on ebay that is similar to that one without the top part here...

Sorry I can not post pics right now, at work Wink..

Nice one. And heavy! Shipment costs to Spain are doubling the starting bid! Very Happy

Well, anycase, I cannot see it in the movie... Perhaps only in the extras? Can you spot where exactly?

Thank you!

Definitely in the film (and out of it), definitely pink marble:

Good luck finding it! Smile

That's definitely in the ballpark... good find!

Now maybe I've been looking at this lamp too long and am imagining things, but is there a silhouette of Tyrell's owl sitting on a perch superimposed on the lampshade like a double-exposure?

See for yourselves:

Can someone please confirm and propose a theory? One could read into this a subliminal message that Deckard, like the owl, is a replicant. Any takers?

Thanks, guys! Very Happy

I wonder if it's a still image of the owl or video footage spliced together with the apartment scene... I'll have to go frame by frame, but no time right now.

Somebody feel free to run with this!

Alright, I have to admit this is an extremely cool find. It is possible it is an optical illusion, but I doubt it. I have a feeling it could be something done on purpose, even if only by the people working late in the editing and transfer room. Or even something that Charles did just for the DVD's. I will have to spend some time looking at the different versions I have.

In the book, Deckard mentions to Rachael that he had always wanted an owl, even before they all became extinct.

Too weird.

I went looking for this shot in the movie(the top pic)...

...and I could not find it in the regular cuts, but I did find it in the deleted scenes. As hard as I could look I could not find the owl in it, but it is only there for a split second. Interesting though.

You can also see the lamp in Tyrell's bedroom as Batty begins to chase Sebastian.

I think I solved the Mystery of the Owl in the Lamp. If you go to the Dangerous Days documentary where this scene is found (chapter4 1:11:33-32) the Owl scene in the Pyramid is just before the the apartment cut scene, and the owl is in the same position as the lamp. If there is a slight fade or just some video interlacing I think you would get the double image.
