Tim,
Awesome looking coat! I know I was just stunned when I first took mine out of the box and saw how terrific it was. Smile
Definitely money well spent!

after many fruitless trips to drygoods shops in my area, I have determined that the lighter weight fabric used for SuperJedi's coat is indeed a very limited item. The shop where I purchased it specializes in picking up things in the back of the Garment District in NYC, and this was unfortunately in that catagory.

So the good news is... ya got a spiffy designer fabric coat. The bad news is... I bought all there was, but that only adds up to 2 coat lengths then it's out. I've got my sources looking for something similar and I do have an indefinate supply of the heavier fabric.

Just a heads up for those who are interested.

edit:
only enough for one more in this fabric.

The description on your website says that the coat is "numbered", does this mean indivudually numbered and part of a limited run?

Individually numbered yes...limited run, NO.
She quite simply numbers them as she goes...

Is she away on vacation? I sent two emails with no response. I want to order a pair of pants, shirt and a coat and was wondering if they combine shipping?

Ditto. Sent a PM through here and an email through her site weeks ago. No reply so far. Question

Yes, I believe she does combine shipping.
It's been my experience that when she's not incredibly responsive one of a few things may be the case:

1) She's SLAMMED with orders and just doesn't have time to get back to me
right now.

2) I haven't offered her HALF up front (which is her standard)

3) I need to be more patient and try to keep in mind that I'm NOT her only
customer and that she is only ONE person and can only do so much at
any given time.

Usually it's a combination of all three.

Yeah, I understand how sometimes these nearly one person operations can get slammed with orders but it has been nearly four days and I have not gotten a response. And with these fairly high priced items, customers usually want to talk to the designer (or, at least in my case). Anyway, I didn't know you had to give half up front. I was looking at her ordering page and was just gonna pay her the entire amount. Unless the "half now, half later" is just for off-site orders...

Yeah, half up front is for the bigger ticket items like the Trench.
I'm sure she will be receptive to your offer.
I think you will also understand that a person sending her a note asking to pay in multiple installments is probably not worth her time...in those situations, more time is wasted on discussion than it takes to make the item!
I'm sure she'll be in touch soon.

So any enquiry that's not to her liking is simply ignored?

Not even a 'sorry but I can't agree to the terms you are proposing but I am willing to work with you come up with some other mutually agreeable arrangement'?

I know business is good and money is gushing in, but surely this is not a good business practice by any standards, in any industry?

POL, You are absolutely correct---however---we have something here in the US that goes like this:

"We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone."
(sometimes it also includes the words: for any reason, at any time and without notice)

I don't speak for Rachael, I'm sorry if I ever gave the impression that I do.
I never said "ignored" either nor was I talking specifically of you.
I merely suggested a few different things that could be tried to get different results if the ones you are trying now aren't working.

My new suggestion to you would be to give AbbeyShot a try.
See if they are interested in giving you a 10% discount and willing to let you dictate the terms of payment.

Again, I don't speak for Rachael.
Do you suppose it could just be that she hasn't gotten back to you yet?
If so, see number three above.

I would also recommend that if she does finally get back to you that you NOT waste her time with lot's of bartering.
Just as you are well within your rights to try to get a handmade Movie Replica Overcoat at the lowest possible price(10% off of her currant price is more than fair)
So too she is WELL with-in her rights to ignore you if she feels your more interested in trying to chisel her down in price.

My two cents for what it's worth.

My two cents for what it's worth.

I never negotiated price, just suggested a payment plan, which seem to be acceptable to her from our last communication in April this year.

She wrote, and I quote: "Thank you for your interest in having a trenchcoat made. My current price is $XXX, with work on the coat to begin once a 50% deposit has been made. This can be all at once or in a few installments."

Here is the entirety of the message I sent, for all to see, and judge:

Hi Meg,

I wasn't ready to splurge on one of your Trenchcoat when we last talked, but now that I have a PKD, and one of Paul's bottle, I think I'm ready.

I have a couple of questions though, hope you don't mind:

1) Is the 10% discount still applicable since I bought one of Paul's bottle? And is there a deadline to claim that discount?

2) Could I pay you in five monthly installments so that I don't melt my wallet?

3) Can you get me an exact shipping quote by packing a coat and taking it to the post office? I've found that more often then not, USPS online calculation turns out to be grossly overpriced.

Please let me know

Regards,

Pol

Maybe this, is the reason why the world is in the state it is today.

Too many people advocates the 'my way or the highway' philosophy, which leave no room for negotiation, or an opportunity to find common ground.

Not aimed ta you Paul, or the US of A. Just saying...

OH PLEASE...
The world is in the state it is because of the Republicans, BUSH and the U.S. OCCUPATION of IRAQ...PERIOD.

DUDE...get a clue, She's BUSY and you are just going to have to wait and see if she get's back to you.
I would venture to speculate that there's no PLOT against you here, just one person who may have taken on too much and realizes her limits.
How about you cut her a little slack? From what you told me of late, you're not exactly hurting for cash anyway...
Take some of the money you offered me and make a half payment on a GREAT BR Trench! Very Happy

Yeah I know she's busy, we all are. But my message was sent on Sept 16, and all I'm saying is a 'hi sorry I'm busy, will get back to ya when I can' would be nice. And since this IS a big ticket item, the customer service should be that much more impressive, no?

You will not hear another pip from me regarding this, so whether I get a coat or not is not entirely up to Rachel. And no I won't go for an AbbeyShot either. When I make up my mind to get something (and it normally takes a LONG time for me to make up my mind, usually after weighing the pros and cons of every available option), its either that or bust. Same reason why my Vader costume is still missing a leather suit 3 years after I started putting it together.

And the money i 'offered' you is not all my money. I deal a lot on other people's behalf, since I'm active in many boards already anyway.

Peace.

After posting the above I realized that I made an error. You were referring to the 'first offer' while I thought you meant the 'second offer'.

Anyway this is not about money, this is about not getting a reply to an enquiry. With that, I will forever hold my tongue on this subject until I get an official reply from the source.
