Yeah you're right regarding Louis Bufont...
I also think Alain Delon was supposed to play Capt Dallas but he refused at the last minute because, like he said, "Alain Delon cannot die. Alain Delon is immortal. If Alain Delon isn't allowed to kill that creature, then Alain Delon won't be involved in this movie".

GREAT PHOTO, TIM ! (and thanks a lot for the kind words, glad to know you really enjoyed your jacket !!!)

They dont make em like that anymore Fred.

This has been a fun thread for me and i wanted to wrap it up that way.
If the Starlog jacket remains myth, i`d be happy with that.
Tim.

BUMP !

Didn't know where to post that picture, so I've resurrected this very cool topic...

This is a portrait of street artist Shepard Fairey (aka OBEY, or OBEY GIANT)... Look at his t-shirt, doesn't it reminds you something (Nostromo related) ???

Shocked

Fred

I chose to do Parker's jacket partially out of laziness lol, But I also did not know other people were actually doing the cool Dalllas Jackets.
My jacket i picked out a cool darkened leather flight jacket, and it took about 2 weeks to find a decent used one online that was not so light. There are subtle differences in the pockets and wrists one needs to look for when choosing. I had it dry cleaned, and it did lighten up a bit, I did not want to go to the extreme of actually putting grease and stuff on it to make it look darkened to the point of being almost black. I used standard patches, and white primer sprayed 5 times into the leather to soak in, then 5 coats of gloss sunburst yellow to do the safety yellow lettering, but its not so bright, and looks more accurate. Here are the Pump demi bold stencils with the pics.

That jacket looks absolutely superb. How on earth you managed to get the lettering looking so sharp on the back of the jacket is beyond me. Very Happy

hey offworld66 - i think the center patch is actually for Russian paratroopers. i collected a lot of military watches while i studied there and they had one for each branch or specialization of the military (tanker, paratrooper, submariner, artillery, etc). this might be a similar case. also the the top patch is for the space program - it says "Intercosmos" and was used for missions where countries other than just the Soviet Union were aboard.

the right patch is from a Russian-French mission.

and finally (sorry to hijack - but i thought you guys might appreciate this especially with all the bottle talk these days) - i was thinking these might be something else we would have seen in the galley in either Aliens or 2010:

my parents both worked on the American-Russian space program and the cosmonauts and scientists often gave us these as gifts.

sorry again, back to regular thread ....

Thanks Space Jockey,

Actually the fonts I posted, are used for the stencils for painting the back. I masked the letters across the back in a arc, actually I had to cover the whole jacket with painters tape and newspaper to prevent overspray. The letters simply cut out of the square stencils with a razor blade, then masked on. I used these exact stencils, just printed them out proper size on a printer and cut them into square blocks. It is a bit time consuming, will take an evening, but when it is hosed down with several coats of white primer and the yellow paint, it is durable and permanent.

Thank you offworld!

I would love to see another Nostromo jacket being made here...Fred can also provide some stuff...he is the real master at them.. by the way I printed out the stencils at 1 3/4" tall on a regular cheap printer.

Engineer Brett's Jacket.

In the first shot you can also see JF Sebastian's jacket from Bladerunner, I saw that first hand the other week in the Sci-fi Museum, Seattle.

Brett's jacket looks like it might be a thermal liner. This coat was also owned by Jeff Walker, who just sold the hero gun.

Brett's jacket is great but it's nothing without the "hawaiian shirt", the coolest part of his uniform IMHO, or at least what makes him really standing apart from the rest of the crew... with his hat, of course !

Cool

Any idea where this shirt came from ? Has anybody already identified it (or the fabric it was made from) ?

Fred
