The one in the pics is a converted Steyr and Real Charter Arms Hero. The intact Steyr will soon be going under the knife for a super accurate Hero build. Just compiling all the new pics and Data of the real Hero before I proceed. |

sorry hirohawa, for some reason I thought andy posted those last pics, hence my confusion cheers for posting those up. wow! did you ever post up the converted Steyr and Real Charter Arms Hero? I had no idea you worked on one! and you want to do...another?? thats insane! but awsome!
So the verdict is sidkits receiver cover is basically larger than the real receiver cover? does that mean all the parts in his kit like the charter arms frame etc are scaled up? _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

Why would Sid go through the trouble of scaling parts up? I've heard of molding to scale down, but not up. |

Speculation is that the weight of the metal actually expands the mold. Sid always said he used new techniques to make these. I am not sure if it was done on purpose or not, but it would be easy to assume that the original parts were already undersized to a degree, and in order to make it more accurate, it would have to be a little bit larger when done.

based on this theory it would be interesting to compare the resin blaster to the metal one
following up from chews spinner emblem dies I ordered a 2"x 3" sheet myself. I included smaller versions of chews spinner emblem, bolt lever dies, receiver cover dies, bulldog serial dies and ammo cover plate
all that's left now is to hammer these in and hope I don't crack the metal _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

hammered the first die earlier. it took quite a beating! I might try the long nosed plyers next time as chew suggested.

cheers guys. doh! just noticed the serial is slightly too far to the left than the original. my fault for being too lazy to check the photo
however, with the amount of inaccuracies my blaster has already I can forgive that
gonna attempt the receiver later. thats the one I'm dreading _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

I think I'm perfectionist bordering compulsive obsessive
been hammering away the last few hours. this was pretty much a one shot deal so I really took my time with the setup, which was mainly re-enforcing the parts and positioning the dies in the right place (this time).
even though I hammered the hell out of them I wish I'd gotten the markings in deeper, though I didnt want to run the risk of cracking the receiver
the markings are alot thicker than the WC though this was due to the dies coming out slightly thicker than my original graphics.
full credit goes to thoren/chew as this was all his idea. "the man's a genius" _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

Hey Thanks for the credit man!!! I love reading this thread just to see how far and away you've taken your build!!! I'm really impressed with the way these things came out!!!
And to think this all started with a very well timed question about re-pouring the barrel!
Keep up the superb work! I will post photos of my blaster soon so as not to play second fiddle to this thing! _________________ I just do eyes. |
