been hammering away the last few hours. this was pretty much a one shot deal so I really took my time with the setup, which was mainly re-enforcing the parts and positioning the dies in the right place (this time).
even though I hammered the hell out of them I wish I'd gotten the markings in deeper, though I didnt want to run the risk of cracking the receiver
the markings are alot thicker than the WC though this was due to the dies coming out slightly thicker than my original graphics.
full credit goes to thoren/chew as this was all his idea. "the man's a genius" |
I am impressed on how well that came out, despite the thickness of the dies. The idea is a golden one for sure. It looks perfect IMHO. I wonder if we can do this with all the engraving text. I think you guys may have solved a problem that no one else has been able to work out totally convincingly.
Great job,
Andy |

I'm just adding my voice to many congratulating you on a hell of a build Beast (cuddos to Chew with his excellent idea). Keep up the obsessive behaviour; it's always a sheer pleasure to see your work grace these pages |

cheers guys
I've actually hammered the receiver markings in deeper so they look better now. I also moved the bulldog serial to it's correct position, otherwise it would have just bugged the hell out of me!
The blaster is 95% built up. I just need to paint the ammo box and it's ready for pimping _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

I'm pretty new here to Propsummit, and was just now going thru this thread for the first time. It makes for an exciting read! But then it just...stopped! How did it all end?! Any pics of the final build, Beast?

I would also be interested in techniques used, like the use of soldering iron. Im about to start on a blaster build similar to this one.
Im also looking for the large flat head screw (instead of the weaver) - if anyone knows where a suitable one can be found I would appreciate it _________________ Jim |

I found a plastic one that seems a near match.
Send me your address and I will mail you one.

I believe that would be referred to as a fillister head screw. It can probably be found at any good hardware store worth it's weight..
If not, a Google search should provide a solution. |

This screw thing has me puzzled.
searched this fillister head screw. doesn't look like the screw to me. and the one on the gun doesn't look flat headed.
More like a rounded head bolt. strait slot...can someone please advice because I would like one on a future build instead of weaver knob... |

I was only able to find one with the right shape and size in Nylon.
So that is what I have been using all these years.
