Anybody my age may find the common themes that the younger generation may not. In the early 80's, my weekend consisted of hanging out with the crew, watching Blade runner (and alien) over and over, We listened to music most of the public knew nothing about, and Blade runner was a cult movie among like minded people. Blade runner was a huge impression on many of my generation, with a lot of hidden meanings about society, the future and the world in general. For us it was not just a movie that came and went...

It had had an effect (that still lasts..) These pics may resonate for some of you...

A Bleak center of the future

a late 80's "bladerunner-esque MTV video (when they still had music videos)

Beki Bondage...

Patsy and the gang in The Class of 1984...

A couple of girls..

Pris.. (who still looks good in Kill Bill 2)

reverse influence...

I had dated a few Punk girls, mostly because of Blade Runner. One of their nicknames was even "Pris". Ahh such wonderful crazy days. I love how BR attracts artists and other creative people.

I was reading an article about the "Return of the Power Suit" and it gave credit to Donna Karan with coming up with the big square shoulder pad women's outfits in 1985. Hmmmm, I wonder where Donna got her inspiration from?

Most of the punks in the street scenes in BR where actual LA punks. It is the movie that put "Punk" into "Cyberpunk". It is a movie on many levels about survival in an urban setting, no wonder so many big city artists from NYC to Tokyo still find inspiration in it.

Thanks for the thread JTP,
Andy

BR was a strong influence on my decision to buy a condo in this place.

Granted, the fact it was raining when I first saw the place only added to its appeal. Now if I had money out the wazoo I'd definitely set about covering the walls of my unit with ennis tiles.

Wow, that is a cool building! if someone here can do a modification and make a dreary red sky and cool hues, It would make a great "bladerunner-eque" picture! very cool Loyalizer!

View from my window at night:

One of the things I've always loved about the place, even though my unit didn't come with the balcony I could go out on and sip some JWB, was the fact that the southern exposure lets me see alot of the air traffic out of SFO, which pretty much looks alot like spinners in flight over the city. Its kind of my largest BR prop in my collection.

I just need to get some neon for the interior. There's been more than one rainy night where I've gotten out the Cibi and the JWB, put on a little BR blues and watched the city while having a sip.

I had to go out of town for a couple days right before my wife's birthday, thank goodness I was able to be home and surprise her with the news I won Lanna's actual screen used jacket from "DEATH PROOF"
on an EBAY auction for one of her gifts...
She is a huge Tarantino fan, and watches his movies on a daily basis LOL!

I will post a pic when it arrives!

ok,.. I have found one of the most BLADE-RUNNER-esque videos I can find to date.. check out BILLY IDOL "L.A. WOMAN"...

It is totally rad for top-40 music, and a great artistic Ridley Scott type video...

More than a few homages in that video for sure. The cane, The elevator, the Tunnel, the clubs block design. And I thought "Dancing With Myself" was BResque. Here it is...

There is also a George Michael video, IIRC, that has the police tower in the video and other scenes i think.
