I just saw an advert pop on the TV for Sky HD and in it Anthony Hopkins did the famous Roy Batty speach.
Anyone else seen it? |

I'm in the US, so probably never will unless it's put on youtube!
Send shivers down my spine just thinking about it though, as I'm a fan of Sir Anthony. _________________ - Brian (formerly ToothTech)

I think he does have a look of Rutger, a little. |

Just seen this on the telly.
Yep, he's a fan alright - he prefaces the speech by saying how some moments in film make a lasting impression.
And that's his. |

...thanks Andy......even without emotion and recited dry...it's amazing...nice to know one shares a thought and feeling with the likes of Sir Anthony....love that it was in fact an improvised line generated by Hauer...Sir Ridley's willingness to go with it.....inspired to say the least.... _________________ ...the future is not all it's cracked up to be... |

There is also Rutger Hauer walking on background. Amazing ad. Love it. |

Not so sure about that blurb at the link stating it was Rutger Hauer walking outside. The person shown walking was wearing the same color pants & shirt as Hopkins in the chair. *shrugs* _________________

But we can always live in our dreams it was Rutger. |

No, I think your understanding of the quote is correct:
Quote: | Anthony Hopkins is seen in a large room overlooking open grass, as he muses that some moments in movies stay with us for ever, and recites a passage from Blade Runner spoken by Rutger Hauer, who is briefly seen walking past outside. The narrator introduces Sky+HD with 33 high definition channels. |
WHOEVER wrote that seems to believe the guy outside was Rutger Hauer, but I'd say it almost certainly is NOT.
Anyway, for me the clip would have been much cooler if he had slowed it down & put a little meaning into the recital. I mean, he took the time to drop his head at the end (the dying part), so why not put more feeling into the whole thing? Still, it's an excellent homage to the scene. _________________

The ad would have been much better if Rutger was in it. |

Gaff is right: if Rutger has walked in the background (and be noticed)it would certainly added a hoompf to the whole thing...very nice job from Hopkins. |

Mr Hopkins has done a couple more of these ads aswell.
One for Rocky and....i can't remember the other
He walks across the background in those aswell, so definitely not Rutger. |

Hi Neil
As you say it's a shame it's not Rutger walking in the background! but just to know that Anthony Hopkins, one of the best actors to come out of the UK possibly ever, is also a BR fan is a really cool thing!! Good on him!!
Cheers
Paul. |
