On the inside of the box you can see a glue spot where one or more plaques were glued. On the bottom you can see a metal plate that was most likely one of the plaques. It looks like the back/glued side is facing out. If it was a found piece, it could have identified it for us, but I doubt more and more it was a found piece, especially after looking at the latch mechanism. Yep, the more I look at the box the more it looks fully custom.

Yeah Andy, after looking at that box for the last 5 hours you're probably right. I think that the hinges were lifted from something else and the plaque full of drilled holes might be also a found piece (buttons as well, of course)...but again: not difficult to reproduce.

Mike R. is going to be doing some iron on and stencils of the NOSTROMO for the back of the jackets. The color will be an aqua due to the fact it is the closest he can find. If anyone can find a closer color let us know.

I would like to know who all would be interested in these so Mike knows how much material to order.

Thanks
Steve

Those things on top of the key are red magnets of the type I used to play with when I was a kid in 72-73's. They had the slots as you can see in the pic, and through the center there was a hole as I remember and I used to tie thread through them and throw them at objects at about the age of 3-4,, I just realized I have not seen those things in Years! I guess I missed these pics!

Here is the supplier I found... They had a bit rougher coat of paint back then 30-40 years ago.... I recall each side of the slot had a different polarity when I tried to put them together as a toddler,,,

I think I can find those electrical components as well. 30-40 years ago before everything was standardized, the UK, the USA, and Soviet Union all had their own version of resistors, capacitors, diodes etc. and UK and Soviet Union stuck with heavier stuff that was considered technologically inferior back then by the western standards, but it was actually more resistant to EMP radiation pulses, and more reliable. many European countries even stayed with tubes because of reliability (exception being Fed republic of Germany) for awhile and as you can see the components are heavier. actually the round part is part of an old British television Tuner, probably a murphy 410 TV set, Most likely, everything in the clear resin is a component from one scrapped television set.

Good find, JT !!!

Maybe those components were taken from the small TV set that was used to build the motion tracker, what do you think ???

I have a request.. I don't hava a lot of free time right now. but I want to be able to say THANKS to Bob for letting me get some great pictures for us.
So The key he had was stolen by someone "which blows me away" and is Mu-th-ur box is empty.
If someone is going to make the key fairly soon I would like to get one for Bob. He is going to be sending me a tracing of the area that the key goes into and the depth of the recess. I will post this info also.

Just let me know.. I will be happy to pay for it.

Thanks
Steve

Hi - just chipping in to say I hope to be doing the jacket stencils for anybody who wants them. Where I work we have a computerised vinyl cutter.

The leather jackets appear to be painted and so just require a stencil (which I would cut from self-adhesive vinyl), but for the others we're currently sourcing sheets of iron-on material which I can also cut to shape. The trick is getting a decent colour, but we're aiming for 'close'.

Actually going back to the thread topic, I notice that many months ago there was talk about Outland patches. I was lucky enough to buy a lot of Outland material from John Mollo at auction a few years ago.
