1- I had a great pic from Andy
2- Plasti-card covered with Alu-tape.
3- Made a jig for the buttons (same shape at the top, different at the bottom)
4- Looked for the right fonts in my Letraset stash.
5- Had to darkened the buttons (used look showing in the pic)...and voilĂ . |

I am probably going to just follow the logic that in a real world there would be several models of this phone. From the pics, the prop people thought the same thing. As long as it is pretty similar, I will be happy with mine. And it will save me the trouble of meticulously recreating hard to find calculators ( nice work though!).
Not that I don't want to see the perfect 'prop accurate' version, but I don't have to own it. I love the jigsaw puzzle process. When my blu ray final cut gets here I will try to make some more notes...though it's a shame I can't read the discs on my computer.
If these screens we have are already from the final cut on blu Ray, someone stop me! _________________ Good against remotes is one thing. Good against the living? That's something else.

Showed the pics of the Vid-Phone to the G.F. and she's adamant: it's from a hair-dryer she has seen before (Braun, maybe)...well, since she doesn't want to part with hers, I'll have to think about another option, until then:

Thanks for the positive feed-back . I whish I could've presented a finish prop... I hope to find an option soon for the "camera" part of the Vid-Phone. |

Great colour choice, makes it look like a "government "issue phon,if you know what i mean.
Your work has inspired me to start working on mine again J, the idea to use a bic lighter holder for dressing is ingenious.
Ive got about 5 local petrol stations on standby to grab theirs as they throw them out weekly. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Excellent Tim! I`m eager to see your build, and yes, those stores are always willing to part with those Bic holders...at a certain time I had to say ``enough``to the guy who was keeping them for me |

Bravo J , if i can get mine to look half as good as that, i`ll be content.
I was hoping you would put the small red light on, as i cant really work out where it goes. It looks like it sits on a small box fitted to the top of the view screen,
Im thinking of fitting it inside the front of the camera. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Thanks for positive feedback. While I`m not totally satisfied with the ``camera`` part of the Vid-Phone it will do for now...until I have a better version, of course.
Yeah Tim, that red light and the greeblies on top of the slide viewer are still a mistery; seems that Deckard`s Vid-Phone did not have that features; in the scene with Leon, both Vid-Phone have the red light. |

Thanks so much for all of this information Joberg. I have been assembling all of the components over the past month for my own Vid Phone and today I just picked up a bic lighter holder from my local gas station. The only thing that I do not have is the Casio calculator. Instead of the calculator I am thinking about using the key pad from a business phone (various buttons like transfer, hold, and different lines).
I am also thinking about keeping the phone as a functional phone. I will just need to keep the cord attached.
