|
|
Here is a rough first cast of my New Narcissus shuttle model kits. This one I have already painted white, I intended to make an interior and clear windows, but all of that would have added much complexity to the kit, as I rotocasted the hull and it is all a hollow hull, with engine nozzles and front and wintips that are glued on.
I am thinking of possibly cuttlng this cast apart (or a second) remolding the top half of the hull in clear, and the bottom in white, so the clear windows can be painted around. I used references on the Shuttle thread for the details. Lots of tiny tubing, vinyl panels, and heavy detail on the bottom and retro thruster pacl. I am not sure if I got the angles and proportions absolutely correct (I dont have a narcissus halcyon kit or a Konami) I used the angles off of the Martin Bower pics on this site, and Grahams shuttle drawings from when he was 15 LOL!!!!

Thnks guys!
Its difficult to measure based on its shape, but it looks about a little over 6 inches, so its not as big as the Halcyon kit unfortunately, I am cutting out Lexan bases for them right now, with an acrylic rod for a stand. Last night I tried to cast a second one, an the mold tore, so I will need to make a new mold. The thrusters I was able to modify a part of a common toy, and they are almost perfect.. actually I built the size around this common kids toy...LOL
a word of advice for anyone molding prototypes. Never use U.S. composites Urethane Rubber. I used this for this little shuttle, and the Nostromo top docking module. and even though I used Mold release, It was extremely unforgiving, and it pulled little tiny panels and details I glued on.. and took me 3 days to fix the original. Now I am going to remold it with Degassed Silicon. I made a mess for trying to save 20 dollars with bad materials.... but this should be remolded my the weekend. _________________ ______________________________________

Thanks Guys!!!!
Here are some more pictures of me doing a quick paint up.
Here is little over 6" model with some painting I started, like windows, and a quick black wash to bring out details. I am going to fix a couple small details before I do the second casting in Silicon, but you can get the idea of the model... sorry the pics are kinda fuzzy... but it hides a couple things I want to correct on the prototype LOL! this should be ready by tuesday for casting I hope... If I dont order US composites Mold Urethane..
