Awww dayum! That sucks. I swear I recently had a dream about spotting him in a movie that I didn't think he was in. |

RIP.......a tad unnerving when....one of my peers....passes on.....whatever the illness....Dark Star is a classic.....and I can think of worse things than being remembered for chasing a beach ball all over a spaceship......very cool and very very funny...... _________________ ...the future is not all it's cracked up to be... |

More on Dan here...

One thing we all should remember about him as an influence for Blade Runner is his writing with Moebeus "The Long Tomorrow" for Heavy Metal magazine, which was one of the main influences for Ridley Scott in making BR.

Well, that's a real shame. Kind of a lost talent, that is talented, but never had the opportunity to do much work. Lifeforce is a nice, underrated film.
I met him once at some SF meeting where he was describing the Alien, prior to the release of Alien. Jerry Pournelle took exception to the exobiology that O'Bannon described. Amusing at the time.
I always wondered what happened to him. He did have a great sense of humor.
