I have no problem, so we could go to Jan 5th?

With the understanding that basic kits go out first and the delux will follow at my best speed....

Just a small query; will there be any putty work involved on the metal surfaces... and how will the clear resin grips be cast, so as to avoid any air bubbles? As always- many thanks for your time!

I will take extra care on the metal parts that stay metal, even do some soldering if needed.

On the parts that are painted, like the grip frame and the side covers perhaps.

On the plastic parts no problems I presure cast.

I have renumbered all three, the receiver, the cocking lever and the Bulldog.

As soon as I start casting, the masters do not photograph well.

Note the pictures above.

Raw plastic castings.

Put me down for a basic kit.

I don't need a plaque or stand.

Won't be ready till tax refund season though, if that is okay.

Final thoughts:

With the pictures from the Big Auction as well as Karl’s I have gone back in and redone a few things.

On the Receiver note the two extra fills, this is because I saw a shot of the receiver with the cylinder open and could see that I had a little bit too much cut off, so I repaired it.

This IS a new receiver casting pulled from early molds to recover detailing.

Also I added larger LED holders and a smaller switch cover with on and off embossed in it.

And I reshaped the right side cover to put the screw thread behind the line and reshaped the curve coming down from the binding post. (That one will drive everyone nuts, it is not clear in the pictures but with a stunt dummy in hand I could see how it was shaped.)

The zinc parts are because pewter was just a little too soft on these small high stress points in the model. Once I found a shop to cast them I had them run.

There are a bunch of other small changes in the tooling hopefully these will make clean up and building a little easier for you and me.

The cocking lever pictures are now wrong, I redid it again…even more accurate.

I would have never believed I could find so many things to improve and fix…until I did find them.

There are only three questions still unknown:
1)Does the sight rod really have something written in one of the notches or is it only the tooling marks and lighting??

2)And did they really put a screw though the frame into the swing arm to hold it or not, I think not the holes do not line up right.

3)And the wiring…clearly it was four wires at Worldcon, two pairs glued to the outside of the cover.

So was the cut a way there before they cleaned up and rewired the model or was it cut into the cover by the guys doing the clean up and rewiring??

IF it was there all along during filming to allow the wires to put behind the cover, why glue them on the outside?

So did the clean up guys make this cut?? So they could put the wires inside like I do and did they decided to put one pair on the outside to keep the look of the prop as found??

Someone may be able to answer #1 as soon as they put it on display. #2 I will look more into .

#3 May depend on someone fessing up or some more careful photo study.

Rich

Edited to make more sense...

The answer to #3 appears to be four wires.

When you see the auction pictures you will see that they put two behind the cover and two outside.

There is a cut in the cover on the inside to allow this.

If you compair these to Karl's pictures all four were on the outside.

So was the cut on the inside of the cover there when Karl adn I saw it, I cannot say, and if it was it was unused or did they make this cut when they cleaned up and rewired the LEDs??

That is my question.

They also cleaned up the dirt on the grips and glued back the chipped part of the grip and claned the whole model a little.

Sorry, Rich. I wasn't aware that the wiring had been altered. Did this happen somewhere between Worldcon and the auction?? Shocked

YES...

And that is all I can see, compairing pictures from Worldcon and the ones taken at the auction.

Personaly I wonder if the lost money with the clean up..

And the rewireing of the leds looks crappy.

I beleive it should have been left "as found"!

I agree, it should have been sold as found, however, at $250K, it doesn't appear that they lost money.

But how much more could it have gone from from a true collector??

It is one of those what ifs....
