Question: I would like to try using urethane foam as a buck for vacu-forming...any tip you could give me would be helpfull (any releasing agent I have to use on the foam, or do I have to use bondo to make the buck stronger)? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks. |
Thanks.
to use the foam for a buck for forming, first make sure your foam is at least 5 lb density. as for a release., make sure you get the foam as close to the shape you want, i would suggest if its spot on just primer it and sand smooth with 400 or finer, then you can dust it with baby powder or a thin coat of vaseline for a release.
i try not to add to much bondo if i dont have to. also it depends on how many pulls you are going to have to make. if you have any other question feel free to PM me.
Thanks Al |

Al,
Nice work as always. How far are you intending to go with any lighting and interior cockpit detail just out of interest? |

Looking good Al...are you going to vacu-form the cockpit, or clad it with plasti-card or something else altogether? |

Yes, the smaller parts will be resin. the larger parts like the engines and the cockpit will be made out of epoxy fiberglass. _________________ www.bootcampaign.com
