Did this a while ago. I can't believe I didn't post it here earlier!

I did a lot of research trying to find every single photo reference I could find regarding the space jockey. When looking at the film, the high contrast lighting made knowing what colors to use almost impossible except for some good photo stills!

Finding in-studio photos of the guy, I was able to come up with a relatively close approximation to the actual colors of this guy.

The astronauts were actually what most of my time was spent painting to get right! Unfortunately, they are so small, details were extremely difficult. What you can't see in the photos are that the headlights have glow-in-the-dark-paint. The faceplates went from black to silver. Maybe I will take small acrylic spheres some day and cut them into the domes as I'm still not satisfied. Yes... that is a U.S. 10 cent Dime for scale.

Also, when I get more time.... I will make a suitable base for this guy!

What you might not be able to tell from this photo, (and my only deviation of creativity) is I added just a teeny tiny hint of green iridescence to some pipes on the gun and purple iridescence to the pipes on the back of the chair (only seen when light hits it just right) to give a slightly alien *ahem* appearance.

You really nailed the colors and shading! I wish I had built mine when I first got it. It's hidden away in storage somewhere now.

Thanks for sharing: good job indeed Cool ...I would've painted the "pilot" with a mat colour/varnish to have a difference between machine (shiny) and skin (mat) but that's just my two cents

I love this model,

I picked one up on ebay last night for an unbelievable price of 45 dollars brand new in the box with the parts in the original sealed bags. I am going to mold all these original parts ...(of course I will not sell it as a recast) but the molds will be important because someday these kits will be nonexistent .
