and now...TAA DAA!!! The Radar Dish... actually I built this up and ended up molding it LOL!

This dish mounting mechanism is very similar to a mobile radar used in Western European air defense during the 70's

This radar simply pins into the front tube using a brass shaft..It is removable for shipping.

I am glad you like it Fred!!!!!! I love my Weylan Yutani cans, cups and Blade runner stuff you sent!!!! THANK YOU AS WELL!!

This one will be pretty much finished this weekend...I plan to paint it saturday and touch-up and final details Sunday... SO soon the first Nostromo will be on a Mission!

you will not believe this one... I am going to immediately start a second one for a member of this forum... (the Nostromo iobsession continues)..so although I may not post as regularly as I did... I hope to see some pics here from others... another one is being built in FLorida, New York, and other places... so 12 kits were made..and I can understand why AEF only made 12...YIKES!!! all the molding and time and money, and it does take more time. skill and creativity than I thought for the average resin kit builder,... but I know everyone here is talented in their own ways to make this model...

and The molds are safe in boxes now

My photo bucket and flikr pages have tons of closeups of construction, and if any parts are needed or you break something..let me know..I will get you out replacements!

...98.5% done...finishing the remaining nacelle, adding aluminum and brass tubing to make the conduits, and more panels next to be added from both paper-thin polystyrene and a bit thicker material. The problem I find in building this thing, is that I will improve one side, and then go over to the other side and try to do a similar detail, although intentionally sometimes asymmetrical (it is a huge starship and panels are not all the same).. at some point one needs to realise that a decent paint job will bring great qualities....so I should be over obsessing tonight on this nacelle in a couple hours..... and it is almost there....

..just wait until you see what is planned for the bottom of the ship regarding paint...I can see it in my mind LOL!!

Painting the model now... started out with the bottom, using the darker colors seen in the shuttle scene... mostly darker gray but 4 different shades...sprayed with 2 different types of airbrushes in 5 sessions to bring out depth to the bottom... panel lines will be done tomorrow after the paint dries completely.. I am just working the way around the ship from bottom to top tonight... should be done in 7 hours during my paint marathon tonight...

moving along to the top, now three different shades of gray, keeping the dark to a minimum now on the top and side surfaces...

Thanks Guys!!!

now on the finish stretch... I should have the painting completely done by tonight..and then just some panel etching and hand brushing.....minor stuff..

Had to put new batteries in my camera... they were getting so weak this last pic looks distorted...

here is the first nacelle almost finished.... just airbushed the panel lines.. the rest will be etching...

Thanks for looking guys! I do appreciate the compliments,,,,

here is the painting completed...I have some minor stenciling and spot painting to do paint the other corrugated part on the opposite nacelle, , but basically the model is ready for final small details to be finished....

I took this picture after dark here, and I have no idea why my camera in certain light conditions makes the color wash out red, but here it is 99.5% finished.

I am really amazed at how the level of detail increased 100% just from the paint job...
