|
|
Hi, new to the site,
I have just inherited a 1903 antique rhino foot lamp, very similar to the 1 on Bryants desk, with a brass lamp holder and different shade.
any idea what the value would be to a collector please?
Thanks,
Fraser |

The added value of an item that is related to Blade Runner will depend on it's initial Value, and if it is actually the same item as the one in the movie. If it is the screen used one it would multiply it's value likely even if it is initially a valuable item. If it is similar to the original, but not the same one, that added value would of course be significantly less. More common items of lesser value would actually benefit more added value at this point by comparison. While the more valuable rare and desirable items on their own will gain just a little more overall value. Of course all these prices depend on only one real factor, what one person (or two in an auction) are willing to pay for it. The price of antiques and collectibles are very similar to stocks in the stock market. They will rise and fall in value all the time. Price guides are pretty much an educated guess based on averages. The only way to truly find the value of an item is to put it up for sale. Also you need to consider it may be an illegal item to sell if from an endangered animal.
Sounds cool though, and I would love to see pics too.

Thanks for that Andy, I will have no such problem with selling it in the UK as it is pre 1947, it has a stamp of 1903 on the brass part of the lamp.
Will get some pictures by the weekend. |

Andy was (as ever) right in they answer. The value of an item depends of those factors and the madness of buyer. Me myself I'd payed high amount of money for some items.... and after a while the item decreased value in auctions. When the item is unique, its Ok to pay a high price, but then, some vendors put a "very rare" copy of the same item from time to time. This is cheating for me... so, when you've learned the lesson, these high prices are not Ok for more...
A sample is the Sketchbook from Dolphin. I've bought several copies, from $150 to... a mere $14.95!!!!! So.... last times I'm simply "watching" items, interesting but expensives going away... not more trash money....
Another case. A Vangelis "rare" edition with pics.... offered by $600... incredible. This edition may be rare, interesting, and so on... but, $600???? No thanks.
If your piece is worth the value will depend of many many factors. Put some pics here and let's go to see what happens.... _________________

Yup...these so called "Rare Editions" are almost all bootlegs anyway, and the bootlegger can decide at anytime to make more exactly the same. I just picked up one of the rarest and most sought after, the "Deck Art Japan" for a fraction of the cost it was going for a few years ago. Plus all of it can be downloaded for nothing if you look. I will still buy every commercial release of BR on CD to make sure I help support the artist though.
As far as the Rhino foot...we still need pictures If you need help hosting the pics you can use the upload function here at propsummit, or email the pics to someone like me who is willing to put them up for you.

TFS Ayreandcotaxidermy (and welcome btw). There's a few sites where you can buy it, but the pics affixed on the shade are another story of course. |
