Yeah I know Neil...by the way, I should show you my collection of coffee cup made for left-handed people . My point is that even if you rotate the tile to move the square to the bottom left-hand side, it modifies the overall look of the design: FLLW made two molds; a left-hand side and a right-hand side as to create a mirror image Rolling Eyes You'll see that type of look in Ennis house.

I'm sure FLW just did the rotation thing. If you look at the Ennis House tiles with the square at the bottom left there is a 'trough' running down the right hand side . On the tiles with the squre positioned in the bottom right, this trough has 'moved' to the top.

EDIT: Now I'm looking through my Ennis books and I think I may be seeing THREE slight variations of the tile! Sorry Joberg!

EDIT 2: My god, my replica tile isn't like the BR one. Joberg is right.

NOOOOOOO!

The main problem with the tile is that making a mirror image of a design as complicated as the Ennis tile is basically making another tile altogether...and that sucks believe me! Yes Precinct: 3 designs in Ennis house: left/hand-right tiles+flat tile.
BR flat: left-hand tile+flat tile.

What threw me was the fact that there are a few instances in the Ennis House where the tiles have simply been rotated (on the exterior at least).

The major problem with Ennis, and it's not to devaluate FLLW's work, but my wishes will be with the new owner; with counteless restoration work, and sometimes the wrong placement of tiles (simply rotated) it is a very expensive house to maintain ($100,000 per year) not only because of earth-quakes, but because of the way the house was built originaly.
Very complex subject to talk about here...maybe its own topic (for lovers of FLLW's work, or budding architects) would be necessary

Thanks cOmedian but it was posted before;beside, Scott Maple is sometimes making an appearance on Propsummit from time to time...the tile is also wrong: the deep groove you see at the right hand side of the tile should be on top (small square at the bottom left corner) and, strangely enough, if you see his other tiles (small square at the bottom right corner) the deep groove is at the top where it should be. Confused

Just a reminder: the tile in Deckard's apt. are with the small square at the bottom left hand side.

There's no way you could try (as many have tried before) to go around FLw's issues in terms of design; if it looks like/smells like and have the appearance of the original tile, it's the one and the same.
It's like trying to transform the Coca-Cola bottle by putting it upside down Shocked Let's get real here, if FLW wants to send a C&D to any maker of the tile, they can!

Yes... guess i was in a hurry to justify the error. In my OWN project i have struggled with the FLW issue and am assuming the BR liscense holders(?), but i am pushing onward.

I don't think they'll go after one guy making a small set for a personal project...kind of killing a fly with a sledge-hammer Laughing

Just a heads up folks, the latest episode of CSI Vegas had the tiles on the walls in a hotel.

I seem to recall another episode of one of the CSI's having the tile design on an elevator door.
