hey all

one of the props i have been looking for for at least 10 years was a pack of REAL Boyards. i could never get over how that smoke really affected the atmosphere during Holden's and Rachel's interviews ...
this would be a hard find as they stopped making them not long after Blade Runner completed filming.

until now, our good pal Phil (repdetect) made me a BEAUTIFUL reproduction set and even sent me some Gitannes ciggies to put in the boxes he made. they are still cherished prop replicas because they are a symbol of what the good folks here are willing to do to have a replica - despite it not being available. the fact that he made it for free for all of us ... well, thats why this is such a special place.

but i digress ... on to my latest acquisition. a full unopened pack of Boyards. they weren't cheap, but this was just one of those things i had to have. another pack just sold last week - for a fraction of the price so at least its good to know they are still out there.

cheers.

Congrats on the acquisition. Something I could never do myself. Being a smoker, those would sit on the shelf until the next time I watched BR, and after that I'd be compelled to open the pack and try one. And knowing me, I'd soon have an empty pack lol

Are vintage ciggies like wine: taste better with age? Good prop to have and the unopened pack makes it more special!

thanks guys.
i hear you Loyalizer - after a Cibi full of JWB and halfway into the Deckard/Rachel interview, there's nothing i'd like to do more than light up a Boyard to enhance the mood.

the seller warned me that these were for collecting, were likely very rotten after 30 years (thus even worse tasting than when they were "fresh"). i work with a Swiss-French fella who remembers Boyards from his youth. he said they were the most awful tasting cigarettes out there!

i still have Phil's Gitannes that he sent (they occupy the other boxes) ... so on occasion, they get me through it!

If you really want a smoke, I make a hand rolled yellowed film paper cigarette , made to the old Boyard mix recipe using a hand rolling mix of French 'Golden Virgina' and French 'Disc Blue' loose tobacco which almost replicates the exact smell, thick smoke haze and flavour.

I pack them in the great replica box available elswhere on this site which I make up and they look great - and you can smoke them - plain or filter tip .

drop me a pm and I'll send you a few 'free' samples you can try - the offer's open to anyone .

Hey Paulie !

I like the way you nicely displayed your cabinet !... Smile
Is it an old ink bottle you have in the background ?!

you got it pal! its an antique ink set with the ink well and a roller or blotter or whatever it is ... its glass and hammered silver and it was my grandfathers. i thought it really might be found among all of the other stuff in Deckard's conapt so i added it to my collection for some atmosphere.

good eye Phil!!!!

I'm not sure I have enough room for a VK machine, but we could try it and see if you'd like, J Very Happy
