Posted: Wed Apr 21, 2010 11:36 pm Post subject: My take on the Blade Runner ammo... |
|
|
It occurred to me that a Blade Runner would need ammunition for all that retiring that would be going on. And I didn't think that in 2019, with the Spinners, & the Off-world Colonies (hence interplanetary travel), & Replicants for frak's sake, that the Police (never mind the Blade Runner Units) would be shooting the same old bullets we have now.
I started reloading ammo 20+ years ago, but quit doing it due to lack of time (as my reloading set-up was a simple one). So I got with a buddy of mine (the one who was INSTRUMENTAL in helping make my CtB Thorgrim's Hammer such a [personal] home-run), who has the grand-pappy of all reloading systems (& is also a Blade Runner fan), & we started batting around ideas. After a few months of discussion & some testing here & there, I've come up with a set-up that I'm pretty happy with (& will look excellent in my Blade Runner display (when it's finished )):
I tried to use my experience (as an avid shooter) to make this as "realistic" as possible, even down to the technical & legal jargon on the box. The box (created completely from scratch) took me approximately a week to design, & two full days to electronically/physically construct.
Anyway, thanks for looking... _________________

Beautiful! I have my own ideas on ammo but with my procrastinating tendencies it may be 2019 before I produce anything! |

Very cool. I'm gonna steel some of your ideas for my own ammo.
Don't worry it an homage. Ya see as long as you say it's an homage you can rip anyone off.
Awesome work |

SECOND that!
Great work... Especially the quick-loader.
I'd personally use caseless fragmenting sabot-round flechettes, but good luck finding those in .44 magnum!

Oh Please!!!!
Standard 10mm, explosive tip, caseless, light armor piercing round. That's the way to go. |

With all due respect, replicants are organs, bones, flesh & blood, not Terminators or Screamers... Besides, we know that the Bulldog is .44 magnum, so let's keep it real, shall we?
How about we compromise and add fulminated Mercury (which is highly sensitive to friction and shock) to the tip to make it a mini-H.E.A.T. round? |

Thanks for the comments guys. I originally had intended for this to be a one-off for my own collection, but I've received several requests, so I'm looking into what I can do about a limited run of these.
I had planned to have an interest thread up a few days ago, but my annoying real-life got in the way. YET again.
I'll try to have a thread up in the Prop Forum tomorrow afternoon with the particulars... _________________

^THAT'S^ actually something like what I would envision as the "secondary" ammo (i.e., like the first round Deckard fires at Batty in the Bradbury) for his gun.
I'm still pondering that one... _________________

Love these, love the name.
I respectfully ask to name my own ammo after yours? (With different packaging, manufacturer, etc. Proper credit to you, and I won't sell or redistribute.
