Have A seat! Just small details left, but wanted to show it off...
Question, Should I use this version of the chair in my bridge model, or should I work out one that is closer to the ones used in the movie ( Different headrest etc.) any thoughts?

Cool that looks really terrific! Might be worth checking the other seats in the ship - Narcissus, Engine Room etc to see if the Ron Cobb version of the headrest was used there instead, you never know.
Check out the Airlock....was suprised to see it was a little further along than I remembered. The ceiling, side bulkheads and floor are missing detail, but maybe I'll just go ahead and finish it off.

Ok, everyone have a seat, we are going to be talkin' chairs here.
First, As you can see from the following photos it appears that there was one basic chair design for the Bridge, Narcissus, Blister, and even the rover.
Changes from use to use:
1. Command Chairs - Headrest, rotated Shoulder Pads
2. Task Chair - No Headrest, No Arms, Added padding panels on sides and rear
3. Rover - No headrest
Blister shot:
No arms or headrest, but this one gets a footrest:
I am not 100% but I believe the swing-arm chair support idea from the Cobb drawing was kept for the rear table task chairs
When Comparing the Shoulder pads on the chairs with headrests with those without, It looks like the shoulder pads were rotated, and possibly switch from one side to the other.
The support for the command chairs was just a four leg design, the whole Ron Cobb design was not used ( )
One of the things I realized early during my bridge work, was that the Command chairs either did or were meant to slide back and forth. It would have been a long reach to the controls if they did not.
I still like Ron's Headrest design, and can see where it was included in an earlier bridge design.
All rise for the lowly chair....
Steve

Good research Steve...problem is that I'm in love with all the chair designs showned But you seem right about the rover (pad inversed)as for the "sliding chair" I'll have to see the scene when Kane is sitting down at the controls; does his chair slide towards them? I don't remember. |

The Chairs... They move......
When Ripley goes to find Jones, he jumps out of Kane's Station...
And looky there! the chair is all the way forward!
Well that's my story, and I'm stickin to it. |

Excellent posts, guys... but please don't forget to talk about MU-TH-UR's room chair... the most important rotative chair in that ship...

Thanks SJ! You reminded me what the Bridge needed! I wonder what the Nostromo would have looked like after the age of the minivan. Just how many cup holders would she have?

No cup holder on the Nostromo As you can see, everybody seems to put their cup on top of their console Talk about bad news if spilled |

To also confirm, they do indeed move. If you remember, when they first file into the bridge, Kane states "okay, plug us in.", whereupon his seat moves forward and he digs into his computer to verify their location.
And also mentioned, when Ripley is going after Jones (right before Parker and Lambert "get it"), she reaches for Jones but Kane's chair zips forward, providing Sigourney and us a nice (and one could also say cheap) jump scare. _________________ .

That Nostromo "restoration" is setting a bad example.. I see a crooked docking tube again.... _________________ ______________________________________
