It was pointed out on bladezone recently, that on Joanna Cassidy's web site she talks about refilming some of he scenes for Blade Runner with the origional costume pieces. It may be the stunt woman scenes and it may also be the snake dance scene. She does own the bra that she ran through the streets with as well as the pieces of material that covered her in the Salome costume along with an egyptian style head dress that was never seen wearing in the movie...either way it means new stuff for the new cut
http://www.joannacassidy.com/welcome.htm
Quote: | Joanna has just finished re-shooting her scenes from the original BLADE RUNNER movie. Joanna is wearing her original outfit (which she kept over from the first production). These new scenes will be part of the upcoming special BLADE RUNNER DVD re-release. Check back for more details. |

Interesting.... I hope the DVD doesn't turn into a "special edition". On the other hand, if its her "taking pleasure from the serpent that once corrupted man" I suppose I could live with it. _________________ Wait; I'm having one of those things! You know; a headache with pictures? |

Gosh, while I'm sure she is fit I can't imagine her body looks a thing like it did back then. This is the first I've heard of new scenes being filmed for the new DVD, are we sure about this?? _________________ I don't have enough blasters! |

Good god it makes me shudder to think. Unconvincing 'Digital Doubles'? Theres some truly stupid looking bits in the last Star Wars movie with actors faces stuck onto a stunt doubles body.
Anyhow best not to dwell. Is she going to be diving through glass shop fronts to replace that unconvincing bloke in a wig? As bad as that wig is I love that scene as it is at the moment. |

It all sounds interesting to me.
I too am jazzed about the idea that they would go back and ADD anything...
Don't know what you all thought of the directors cut and i'm sure it's been discussed infanotum but, I hated it.
Add to that the wierdness I noticed when I went looking for the original release, maybe it's just me but there seemed to be some revisionist history making going on.
It seemed the original was impossible to find on DVD.
I went looking on E-Bay and found the Directors Cut advertised as "The Original".
I then found a special edition boxed set through a Big-Box store that suggested it had both versions on it, but when I went to purchase it, not only was it missing from my wish list but they then acted like the old librarien in Episode II.
I resorted to buying the original on VHS and transfering it to DVD.
I'd be pleased as punch if someone could recomend a place to pre-order the newest incarnation. |

I suspect theres been plenty of revisionism involved with Blade Runner over the years and a lot seems to have come from the people who actually made it
I grew up with the original version (with the narration). I was 14 when it was first released but no matter how much I loved it I grew to love the DC more eventually.
Anyway the beauty of this set is you can choose your own definitive version and ignore the rest. |

True...I'll take some Blade-Runner over none at all.
I first saw B.R. at a drive in...made my girl-friend sit still so I could watch!
When I saw the directors cut for the first time it was with a friend who was a equally excited as I was...we spent the time vocally interjecting the narration to each other where it should have been in the film. |

I could take the snakedance...if it were filmed 25 years ago. But considering that it is not only 25 years later -with the original actress, but also was so bad that even a hardened cop like Deckard had to avert his eyes when he saw the act, I think I would have to pass.
"Hey granny, watcha goin to do wit dat snake?" "Eeeeeeew!!"

How do you know that Joanna Cassidy hasn't been keeping fit all these years? She's a working actress. Keeping her figure is part of her job. And maybe she also does it for her own benefit? I'm sure she can afford a personal trainer, etc. etc. She probably also has had work done, IYKWIM.
Hey, if she can still do it, more power to her. She still looks pretty, and pretty much close to how she looked as Zhora. You go, grrl! _________________ Sushi, that's what she called me. Cold fish. |

Okay...
We are talking about THE Snake Dance. Not just any dance. Sure, maybe she could perform it, but think about what it is for a sec.
It made Deckard turn away.
You realize it was in a strip club right?
Technically, if it were to be shown in its entirety, it would get BR a XXX rating.
oh...Mevernind. |

I wouldn't be surprised if she looks better now than she did then. Maybe not naturally, but....she was always pretty athletic. |
