Before I start I want to quickly excuse myself for my grammar. I hope you can understand me without much difficulty.

I'm just starting to dive into the world of Blade Runner and I'm amazed so far how "deep" this film is. There is still SO MUCH for me to find out. You simply can't see Blade Runner just once. I've been reading about what is know as the San Diego Sneak Preview. It was shown in 1982 and it has 3 scenes I'm interested in knowing more about. These are:

- Roy Batty is introduced standing in the VidPhon booth in a full shot making a telephone call to see if Chew is there.
- During the showdown between Batty & Deckard, this version shows Deckard reloading his gun after getting his two fingers broke.
- A high-angled shot of Deckard's sedan driving along a road through a forest during the "happy ending".

Are these 3 scenes just rumors or are have they been confirmed to be real? Is there a way to see the San Diego Sneak Preview myself?

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed.

The five disc set will answer all your needs.

Of the three shots you listed, the only one that's never been seen on DVD is the one of Deckard reloading his gun. The other two are on the workprint version of the film.

I´ve checked the workprint today and it doesn´t include any of the shots. In fact it doesn´t even have the ¨happy ending¨. So the high-angled shot of Deckard's sedan driving away can´t even be on the workprint.

Interesting to know that nobody has ever seen the ¨Deckard reloading his gun¨ scene. I wonder if it will ever surface.

You need to watch "Dangerous Days" a 2 hour feature that showcases many, many of the scenes cut from the film. It's on the 5 DVD set. Your head will explode.

Several years ago I chatted through emails with the boxed sets producer Charles De Lauzirika about the reloading scene. He told me point blank that he'd never seen Deckard reloading his gun, and felt nothing like that was ever filmed.

I see the reloading scene. In the theatrical European version as I seen in Spain in 1982.

Deckard shoot 3 times Pris, shoot 1 time to rutger then when Rutger Hauer broke his fingers they shoot with the left hand 1 more time and goes out of this room, then try to reload near the stairs i remmember the shells fell of his hand and i dont remenber how the blaster fallen for the hollow of the stairs ( Gaff take the blaster from ground floor & returns to him at end).

I think this scene is in old vhs tapes here.

You typed "her" a few times, did you mean "his"?

I have to imagine if the reloading scene was present on multiple VHS prints somewhere in the world, we'd of seen it before, it would be included on the 5 disc set somewhere, but hey, I'd love to be wrong.

So, just to be clear, loose shells were used in the reloading scene you remember? They fell to the floor? They were shiny brass bullets? No extra magazine?

Having systematically gone through all the film elements in Jerry Perenchio's "Blade Runner" inventory myself, I can tell you with total confidence that there was no reloading scene amongst those dailies. Nor was there a shot of Batty using the Vid-Phon to contact Chew.

What was there was new footage of Leon approaching Batty in the Vid-Phon booth as well as aerial footage of Deckard's sedan in the woods. We included all of that unused footage (and much more) in the DVD's Deleted & Alternate Scenes section as well as in certain chapters of "Dangerous Days" and the other various featurettes.

I'm not saying that footage of Deckard reloading his blaster never existed, but I can confirm it was not there in the 997 boxes of film elements I went through in 2007, which represents the official inventory of the film. Nor was it in any of the complete versions of the film (theatrical, TV or otherwise) in that inventory. Rest assured, if it was there, I would have included it somewhere in the DVD supplements.

Thank you Mr. de Lauzirika for your comment on the myth of the "reloading gun scene". It should stop, once and for all, the wagging tongues. Confused

That photo of Batty in the Vid-Phon booth above is representative of the footage that's actually in the Deleted and Alternate Scenes section, not to mention the film itself. It's not Batty calling Chew, which is what had been discussed.

Thanks everyone for the always kind words.
