On the straight cut tube, I have asked a few times which people like and most feel that IF the prop maker had the time they would have made the curved cut.

AND most felt a real gun would have this fitting curved cut.
When I sent out the kits I just send a piece of tubing and let the builder decide.

And lastly I have yielded to the minority: I make a idealized model, what most fell a real copy of this prop would be like, and what was seen within the film, so the correct side screw (no weaver knob) and hidden wires, no damage and no rust.

So I make what I believe is the FILMED movie prop. Or as I like to call them Screen Accurate VS. Set Accurate.

My 2 cents worth.

Rich

I would have to agree with you on this one Rich. The fitted parts look better, and the screen accurate way makes them look shabby and ill fitted. But, for those that want to pass off their replicas as the real prop down the road, the flat tube is the way to go Wink

Does this barrel fit the current Coyle metal blaster kit?

Dave-

I know some people picked up the barrel from the previous run to work with Rich's kit. I picked up his kit as well and am planning on using the machined barrel but let me take some measurements tonight and post the results. As I remember Rich's od was slightly smaller than the 0.75" That Sid was using. The length was the same and the ID is reamed to match that of a 44special round.

Hope that helps, and anyone else please feel free to chime in.

-Michael

p.s. Ill see if I can get the new sign up sheet up tonight...

Michael, are you still around? After these years, I finally decide to fit the barrel to my Sidkit and the holes are not aligned at all!!! Anyone else had this problem? Grrrrrrrr. Guess I should have checked when I got it.

I find even with one of my own runs, the parts are not 100% the same so I always mount the receiver to the bulldog and then mark the holes, same for the ammo housing.

Heaven help me if I get a couple mixed up...

Our casting system are not tight..

When I sell a barrel it is undrilled.

This means that every model I make is a little bit of a one of a kind.

Like the early old black powder guns, each was hand made and the parts were NOT interchangeable, one of the major improvements in manufacturing was accurate interchangeable parts.

Rich

PS You might be able to turn the barrel so that you can hide the current holes and then mark and drill new ones that fit.

To be extra safe do one and put a screw in and then mark and drill the next one.

Michael's barrels were made for the RACoyle Blaster??. Or, ...actually I think you're right, some were for the Sidkit.
I've got a spare barrel from mspaw in storage somewhere, and I am not 100% sure which gun it goes to. It was from the second final run (so I reckon mine was for the RACoyle blaster). I guess it is a good idea to check if it fits immediately as you say.

Good advice, however I'm short on equipment to drill and tap straight holes in a steel tube. Smile Time to improvise. The problem is the fat hole on the bottom is not perfectly square with the two holes on the sides. Makes the whole thing want to twist to the right.

Than is might be correct, the real gun did NOT aline up either and with real parts mine don't either.

Try it.
