To be fair Rich - seeing pics of your blasters is one thing, but I'm sure everyone here will agree, actually holding and owning one is a completely awe inspiring experience.

I really couldn't be happier Smile

Mind you, it makes me want that new 2011 plastic kit even more now Razz

Rich's V3's are a work of art, especial considering they came out 15 years ago. There was nothing even close at the time.

I forgot to double check my own research, they came out in 1999, so 12 years then. I thought they came out around the same time as Rick Ross's

I am moving this thread over to the blaster section.

Well that is version three, so one and two predate it and then there is the ones I did back around 1985.

Yeah, from what you told me when I first started the "Blaster history" you said you made a few small runs of 1 and 2 around the same time as Rick's fist kits before doing V3 later.

On a side note. There seems to be about a 5 year cycle for BR stuff and it's popularity. The movie came out in 82, but didn't seem to get popular until about 87, when a bunch of gun replicas started to hit the market including the Marco. Then in 92 when the Film was re-released as the Directors cut, and a few more guns started showing up including the Universal Armorer, Shawn Morgan gun. Then in 97' around the time of the Westwood video game, you and Rick were selling your kits and new versions of the gun. About 5 years and the PKD-2, Snubs and magnum showed up as well as well as more Japanese stuff like the Android Hunter figures. Then 2007 we had the big DVD/BD/HDDVD sets, and guns based off of Karl's worldcon Photos fro the previous year.

Interesting. Well, if they do go ahead with the sequels (which everyone pretty much agrees are going to suck) then we might see peaks in interest in the future again. My own interest peaked with the release of the Ultimate Edition and I had wanted a blaster myself since seeing BR on cable when I was in High School. I originally was going to buy one of the resin kits that were available for quite some time on the internet (and I think they were either Rick Ross's or the ones being produced by the guy he sold the original molds to) but I never got around to it - and then when I got serious about it I couldn't find them anymore, so I ended up buying an all metal SidKit kit off of eBay and then discovered this forum at about the same point in time (my join date is listed as Mar 23rd 2008 and I had completed the build and posted pics on the 28th.) That was about the same point in time when the discussion on the WorldCon edition was in full swing and Siderio and Richard announced they were working on WorldCon editions, etc. I came in just at the right point in time to get in on the BR Whiskey bottle too.

I too remember the excitement of getting that first kit and completing it. Since then I've discovered (like Noeland) how addictive this hobby can be, as I've purchased two more blasters - the stunt prop WorldCon blaster from Coyle which I'm working on, and a Rick Ross PKD V2 that needs some TLC - it was poorly painted and assembled by the original owner and the grip frame broke off from the rest of the gun during shipping, so it's going to need a bit of work but I'm hoping I can restore it to the point of doing it justice as I've always admired Rick's work on his various blaster designs since I discovered them. So I have a SidKit, a Coyle and a Rick Ross blaster so far. I'm not planning on purchasing any of the other versions that are available any time soon, but who knows down the road...

Anyway Aaron, congrats on your acquisition and like many of us I'm sure you'll be adding more to your collection soon! Very Happy

WOW Aaron... just a thing of absolute beauty!
I'm not gonna lie... I'm very jealous.

On the UPside, though, I'll be wearing your shoes in hopefully just another month or so: I'm slated for a purchase of one of (the ridiculously talented) Mr. Coyle's creations, myself...

I can't wait! And these photos of yours just made the wait a little bit HARDER!

CONGRATS on your fantastic acquisition of (and END to your years of yearning for) this piece!
Smile

Thanks Mitch Smile

Trust me, it's worth the wait!

I'm having a custom plaque and display made for it next month - i'll post up pics when it's all together.
