I have a wedding to attend this weekend but I'm hoping to cut an aluminum version here next week. In the meantime I'm revisiting the tooling paths to trim down the machining time and to get a better finish/more detail. As it stands it takes about 3 hours of cutting time.

I'm super pleased with the current result and think it can only get better.

I love that you guys think this is cool as well. Ive wanted a machined aluminum version of the logo for as long as I can remember. The design is so iconic, and the cast versions just don't do it justice.

The machining takes a good 3 hours but it ends up looking really tight. Im a bit surprised there are several of you that like the acrylic version so much. Straight off the mill it has a slightly frosted appearance but could certainly be made optically clear with a bit of elbow grease.

I hope by the end of the week or early next to have the aluminum one cut and polished.

I'm done refining the paths and have the acrylic all proofed. I really couldn't be much happier with the cut. Tomorrow ill polish one out but honestly in person I like the slightly frosted surface. The photos don't do it justice. This mill is awesome, its going to be so much fun to create with...

p.s. Im cutting another as we speek

so... not that this is really the place for it but id like to see how many of you might be interested in an acrylic or aluminum version of the logo.

Also Im thinking $80 for the acrylic and $100 for the aluminum. ive tweeked out the machining and its taking nearly 5 hours a pop, a lot of machine time but the result is worth it.

And if we need to move this to the prop shp ill be happy to start a new thread there but I want to get the aluminum version cut before putting up a signup sheet.

Thanks again!

-Michael
