|
|
Following up a great project by eltee, I've been thinking of working on my own idealised badge for my wallet.
I've made a quick concept in photoshop using my wallet which has a blank panel for future badge placement
Making the badge is fairly straight forward, but cutting the hole in the panel is gonna be a bit of a nightmare job.
I'd imagine using a sharp scalple cutting through the thickened leather at a slow slow pace would be the best thing.
But one mistake would be bad as these wallets are hard for me to come by.
I'll start working on it when I can and post my progress.
any comments or suggestions on the size/look of the badge as well as advice on cutting the hole is most welcom |

I love the design.
As far as cutting for the badge, your suggestion is the way I'd handle it as well. But I'll bet someone here can think of something easier.
I'll be keeping an eye on this. |

Very nice. I am still waiting for Eltee's badges to be made. Are you working with him to make them the same size? |

This badge is bigger than eltees wallet badge. I'd be interested to know how he gets his badge holes cut
I'll just be working on this one by myself for the time being.
Does anyone have any idea of approx measurements of a simular size police badge this would match? I just did the size by eye to what looked right. |

*edit* I think the standard LAPD police badge is 8 x 6 cm, so I guess I'll go by that.

I got some sculpey and began work on it late last night
I'm kind of guessing the height of the patterning so any comments or suggestions you have (Karl?) would help alot at this stage

cheers igniters
I spent alot of time evening out the surfaces of the badge making the base flat and the patterning more "squarer".
Will look at adding the FORCE panel and edge rim tonight. |

That's looking great I used a totally different method to make my/Eltee's versions. |

Nice! Thanks for posting that Blad never seen this one close up. You got the pattern spot on there.
Im re-doing my badge sculpt to fit the original more acurately.
What was your process for creating the picture frame?
I was gonna make this from standard d.i.y ballbearing chain and a cutout bottle lid.
I have the original frame part I got from ebay, though I'm probably not making the big one now

For the wallet sized badge it's dogtag ball-chain and If I remember right it was part of the top of a headache cure roll-on stick! |
