UPDATE, 11 SEPTEMBER:

Everything is done - - - EXCEPT, for the painting of the blue stripes around the bullet (& then final polish). I have a test bullet that I keep trying on, but the humidity is SERIOUSLY mucking up the curing of the paint. I'm just not having any luck with the temperatures the way they are right now.

I'm hoping for a quick cool-ish snap so I can get these finished up. I don't suppose anyone [with experience detail painting in hot climates] has any ideas for something I could try? Painting inside is not happening. I could try to paint them & bring them in, but I'm not sure how I would do that with the cartridges all taped up. Confused

I thought I might try to find a window unit A/C that I could just plug in & turn on for an evening or two (cuz I believe that's all it would take)...

Anyhow, they're right at done.

UPDATE, 11 SEPTEMBER: Minuscule, yet promising update:

Prologue: My company sprang some surprise mandatory training on me, so I've been in class all week (& studying my ace off every evening). Ergo, vis-à-vis, concordantly, I haven't even touched the ammo project.

HOWEVER, RPFer, co-worker, & compadre: 'DRBJR', has informed me that he has a portable A/C unit that he will graciously loan me, so I can cool down the garage & get cracking.

It will be, at least, next week before I can implement said jewel-of-modern-technology, but I feel pretty confident it will work just how I need it to.

UPDATE, 17 OCTOBER:

Well, I haven't been able to get over to pick up the portable A/C unit (due to real-life encroaching on my beloved fantasy world yet again (or still)).

HOWEVER, I did another test-paint today, & the slightly cooler weather (along with the slightly lower humidity/absence of rain) we've been having over the past couple of days, has led to my first paint success since building the prototypes. The news indicates that this trend will continue for at least the next week or so.

BUT, the group of cartridges I shot today all had issues with the lines I taped. I'm not sure what happened. I tried to clean-up the edges, but it just looked bad. I cleaned them off, & I'll start again tomorrow. Sorry, I meant to have pix of a finished batch today.

So, best case scenario, painting complete in a week. Worst case, a little longer...

WOOT!

OK, my "test-paint" from the other night was done the exact same way I did the prototypes. Upon looking closer at the protos, I noticed that the paint-job on them was not exactly right either (although it doesn't seem to show up in the pix in the original post ). I guess when they were MINE they were good enough, but now that I'm offering them for sale, I'm being more unforgiving with the craftsmanship (I have an overbearing, PitA conscience, what're ya gonna do, right?)

ANYWAY, I used a different technique (which took a few minutes longer) & here are the results:

I don't think I can make that paint-job any cleaner using that candy/anodized paint. Also note, how the casing has tarnished (probably due to handling during the loading process) pretty significantly on the lower half; hence the need for a final polish at the end.

To sum up, I've got the new taping scheme figured out, but irritatingly, each cartridge takes a few more minutes to prepare. I'm still hoping to be close to finished by the beginning of the coming week.

So yeah, "light at the end of the tunnel" & everything...

if the ammo chambers are .44 yes...

as it is these won't fit an offworld M2019 C due to the chambers in it being .38

just my luck... Laughing

UPDATE, 6 DECEMBER:

I guess it's more of a non-update really. Painting continues slowly but surely. Approximately 50% of the ones I've done so far required re-taping/re-painting as the tape REALLY just does not want to stick to the copper jacketing on the bullets (the angle doesn't help either).

Anyway, they're coming.

I've never seen a RAC Props in person, but as long as the cylinder is chambered in .44 cal, they will fit.

UPDATE, 11 JANUARY:

I didn't work on these at all over the holidays. We had a cold snap & I was hella-busy with stuff. I will be able to pick back up on it this weekend, & I would LOVE to actually finish them up.

UPDATE, 23 APRIL: UTTERLY LUDICROUS, EMBARRASSING UPDATE:

Well, for anyone still interested, here's the latest fei hua. The 20 - 30 minute tapes jobs with a 50-ish percent fail ratio (combined with the stress of my impending/potential unemployment (but that's neither here nor there)) finally got to me. I've been ready to scrap this whole project. Of all the cartridges I tried painting (& I lost count of how many it actually was), I literally only got ten of them that passed my inspection. TEN.

Then one day I was talking to my bro/co-worker/RPF-lurker-extraordinaire (freakyspider) about the project, & he gave me a suggestion I was able to use, to come up with a viable solution. The new process is as follows: I dip & brush around some PVA on the tips of the bullets:

Once that dries, I repeat the process. Once THAT dries, I take an X-acto knife & make 2 slices all the way around the glue, & slip off the strip:

THEN, I shoot the paint, wait for it to dry, & carefully peel off the rest of the PVA. Every test I've tried has given me the same result:

A virtually, perfectly clean line that I don't think I can improve on. This process is still pretty time-consuming, but as it turns out, I don't really mind "time-consuming" as long as I get good results. I know this thing has taken WAY too long, but it really couldn't be helped, especially after I ran out of patience. Anyway, I think I'm giving up on forecasting a completion date; I don't like promising things that I can't deliver.

But I CAN say that now I'm achieving forward momentum on these, & I'm hoping to be finished before too much longer. And again, anyone who wants to bow out, just say so, & there'll be no hard feelings (at least on my end).

Anyway, that's all I've got. Stay tuned.

If for some unseen reason you get a spot for a set, I love to sign up.
The finished product is beautiful.
Great job.

I've no idea if these are stillbeing made but I'd certainly be interested in the following if they are:

10 cartridges / 1 speed loader / 1 printed box
