$400 +shipping

Update 10/16/2011

Well I just sent my customer their vidphone, with my Casio MQ11. I'll be anxious to here what he thinks.

It would have the Braun Silencio Hairdryer with a custom tube and end on it.

Update 9/21/11
Okay this one pictured has been sold with the Casio. My first customer hit some hard financial times and was unable to buy after all. Many of us can relate. Anyway another customer just bought it along with the Casio. She ships out in a few days. I'm going to add a little set of greeblies to the top of the monitors that just sit on top. They will not be attached. There is something on top of Deckard's monitor on his phone but we have no idea what it is. I decided to build it without as we have no idea what it is but for customers who prefer it will be included so if you want you can just set it on top. Again we don't know what it is but some type of greeblies so I will whip up something that will look cool.

The next one is partially done and as stated before will look the same as the one pictured only the hairdryer will be a slightly different model but will still look great and just as accurate as we don't know which hairdryer was used originally.

I was able to snag another Casio thanks to a member here so I can include that for the extra money if you would like.

I am offering my new version of Deckard's personal Vidphone from Blade Runner. For those who don't know Contempra phones were used in several different ways and colors throughout Blade Runner as the Video Phones they use. This one is Deckard's personal phone that can be seen on his desk. The real prop used a Contempra phone, a slide viewer, a hairdryer with a folding handle, a Casio MQ11 calculator and what looks like a Bic lighter tray. The actual tray, slide viewer, and the model of the Hairdryer have yet to be identified.

The phone I am offering is as accurate as can be. It's made from a Contempra phone same as the real prop and I found a hairdryer that looks as close as any I have seen. I used a Panaview 2 vintage slide viewer which is currently thought to be what was used but still not confirmed. It has the Bic lighter tray and I put my Casio on it.

The Casio MQ11 is very hard to find. It runs from $80 to about $150 on Ebay but the real problem is finding them. It took two years for me to get one and in that time I only found a few on Ebay. I put a Casio MQ5 on my first one and that looked great, plus it only cost $5. You can get any cheap old calculator that's the right size until you can scrape up an MQ11.

Cost is $300 plus shipping with out the Casio MQ11 and $400 with the Casio MQ11 plus shipping. I only have one Casio so first come first serve.

If you order one I can begin building yours as soon as I get payment. Figure two weeks max turn around time.

Shipping was $53 from me in California to the UK to give you an idea on my first one.

Thanks for your interest. If you order with me I will provide you with regular updates throughout the build.

I just realized I forgot to put the bottom screws in the handset so that is why there is a little gap between the two haves. I was really excited to get it posted after I finished it.

I also have another handset without the leather backing. I think the leather one pictured is nicer but in all likely hood the regular one that just has the regular back is probably more screen accurate. Buyer can decide which they want.

Will post pics ASAP

I've got the other phone with the regular back painted and got the screws in the leather back one so that gap at the end is gone. I'll post pics this weekend

This first Vidphone has been sold. The next one would look the same except the Hairdryer will be a Braun Silencio instead of the Sears Turbo on this one but they look very very similar. Will build when and if one is ordered.

Thanks. To tell the truth I thought I would sell more of these quicker. Obviously not as big as other prop collecting movies but with a fair number of BR fans running around and next to no Vidphones I thought I would get more orders.

Well they can be built at anytime. Assuming I can find parts. I have everything for the next one. Just need that customer Very Happy

Maybe if you could offer the prop with the MQ-11 and pricing it accordingly you could have more offers? I know they're difficult to find and pricy at that, or you could mold the real one and make a replica of it?
Just ideas...

I guess I can offer the Casio for an Extra $100 it just took so long to find it. It's not even the money they just take forever to find.

The Casio have been hunted by the Light-Saber people for those 7 plastic bubbles you'll find on Luke's saber. Over the years, others have begun offering that plastic piece as re-cast piece readily available to all.
Moreover, on certain models of Exacta calculators (from Texas Instrument) you can find the same kind of bubbles.

I know, some people are stickler for details and prefer the real Casio ones and that makes, even today, for a rare calculator...I don't see the price going down on those in the future Crying or Very sad
