USS SULACO Exterior Blueprints

After a huge effort and long wait, I'm proud to finally be releasing the exterior blueprints of the Conestoga Class USS SULACO.

As before with the USCSS Nostromo, the SULACO is printed on double matte mylar at 24x36", signed and numbered.

Filled with technical information the blueprints feature Plan, Underside, Stern, Bow and Starboard Orthographic views.

The price for this print is $50 USD shipped worldwide. As before with the Nostromo which is now sold out, this will be a strictly limited run.

This print will not be reproduced in a 12x18" format because of the shape of the ship and the detail loss that would occur.

Please allow up to 25 days for delivery. As I travel much further now for the prints, I will be printing them in batches once paid for.

I accept Paypal for prints - please email me personally (not a PM) at hydride-ion@live.com for payment instructions.

Thanks for your support with the Nostromo and again for your patience with the USS SULACO.

- Graham.

Here's what it looks like with the previously released Nostromo:

WOW. Graham. You seriously outdid yourself.

My prints came today. If you guys are Alien universe lovers and you haven't ordered these, you are literally missing out on a couple of the best works of art I have seen in relation to our hobbies.

There are certain things that go beyond prop/collectors item to be true, high art. This is one of them.

Amazing, true to the tiniest pixel work, man. I can't be express enough how awesome these prints are.

Do you know what type of ink they have printed these with? Is it archival or should I go the extra money and get museum glass when I get these framed?

Cheers,
Holt

Wow! That's awesome Holt, I'm glad you like them.

Good question on the mylar and ink. It should be fine; I think personally I would err on the side of caution and keep them out of sunlight if you can and try not to hang it above a heat source such as a radiator or heater.

The mylar is kind of a plastic material; a polyester film. It was used frequently though less so now by cities to archive as-built drawings, particularly those by civil engineers. The ink certainly won't easily come off if at all, and the mylar is tough and will not rip or tear.

One article here http://www.nps.gov/history/local-law/arch_stnds_6.htm goes into some detail on the archiving of documents, one paragraph stood out...

"The basic durability performance standard for HABS/ HAER records is 500 years. Ink on Mylar is believed to meet this standard, while color photography, for example, does not."

I'm afraid I won't be around in 500 years to find out; maybe I should get down the hypersleep capsule from the attic.

I asked my wife about it (she's an architect) she seems to think the same thing. I'm probably going to get the UV glass anyway just because I want to be 100% sure.

Here's the thing. As an artist and designer, I've always said there are pieces of art that are time intensive and crafted to the finest detail. Then there are works that may come together with minimal labor, but are extremely inspired... These are both, and that's pretty rare.

I'll say it again, if you are an Aliens fan this is a huge value for the time and effort that have gone into these. If you don't get them for 50 bucks, you'll be kicking yourself in ten years when they are one of the most sought after pieces.

I used to do quite a bit of drafting, and this is no small amount of time invested here.

Again, great work, man. These are works of art.

Cheers.
