|
Looking on the RPF I found this picture related to a SW costume thread...
Ignore the arrow pointing to the Desert sand trooper shoulder pad and notice the piece to the left.
Pic from PiH auction...
I had known for a while that it was made from Motocross chest gear, but had yet to see an exact match. It is still just a bit off too though. The site that it came from no longer has pics of the armor for sale. Hopefully I will know more soon.

Found them...
Sinisalo
I think the quilting may have been done later, or are a variation of the gear itself. It is also possible they only used the plastic parts and scratch made the rest.

Thank you guys. I will let you know what happens and how close to the screen used they are if I get them. I have another feeling that they may have been used to make vacuum form molds of, because the screen used set has closed vent holes. The texture on the ear/shoulder pads also looks a bit odd.

I lost the auction because I held off with my final bid before I got more info, and it ended while I was at work. I got outbid by a buyer of MX stuff. I am not too worried because I am not ready to be working on the Police gear for a while yet and like all the other stuff I ID'd, they all come down in price again when you are ready for them. I am sorry if anybody here was willing to bid high held off because of me. At least now we all know what to look for. Now we just need to ID the Casio calculator and watch in the gauntlet.
I do not plan on posting this info at the RPF until I have a set in hand though. Still not as worried it will see a huge rise in price anyway because it isn't Star Wars. Another reason I am happy to be a BR fan .
I did get more pics of this from the seller to tell me that the texture in the earpieces in the helmet is not in the shoulder pieces. It was either a variation in the armor material, a paint texture, or from material that was used to make replicas of it. I think it is possible one master was made and then they copied it for the rest of the police wearing them. They would have been pretty inexpensive to make copies from as compared to buying a bunch of the actual armor. I am sure it was pretty expensive back then, unless the company was willing to donate some of it for the production. I doubt it without the logo being seen though. |

I am wondering now if the Cod Piece was also made from a found item. The Police holster has been a little elusive too, but I have some front runners for what it was. I think if I put it together to wear though, I may pass on the fish net shirt underneath |

Don't know if anyone has ever posted this very interesting photo somewhere on the internet. (I've tried to check on the RPF, but because I'm not a member, didn't have access to all the links and photos displayed there)
The very interesting thing is we can see the legs and boots of this officer ! We also have a clue he's (she's ?) wearing a black shirt underneath his chest armor...
I've reworked the image in Photoshop to make the details sharper... Here are my comments / questions on this one :
1- Looks like a police stick.
2- What's this ???
3- Side pouch.
4- What's this ???
5- Holster and Gun.

In Karl's worldcon photo set there is a better picture of the Belt with the cod piece and pouches alone.
I found the shirt collars kind of interesting because it seems to be the only part of the shirt they are wearing. You can still see some of Fish net halfway between #s 1 and 5.

Ah, yes, I understand... I first thought it was an hidden belt buckle of some sort...
Do you have an idea for 4 ? Do you think it's a broken part of the gun or just an unidentified light (the red part looks like a led light) attached to the holster ??? _________________ THE FUTURE IS A THING OF THE PAST |

# 1 appears to be an original Monadnock PR-24 sidehandle baton which was around at about the time of the movie. Other companies make them but the Monadnock was the (or one of the) first out. |
