We fiinally put this together after hemming and hawing about it for years. Here is a pic of my wife from a couple days ago at DragonCon. There are a few issues with it, but overall I think it turned out really nicely. Comments/critiques/thoughts welcome!

Great workmanship. Question: what kind of material did you use?
Fits right into that BR feel Cool

Thanks for the comments. The fabrics are as follows, from the shoulders down:

White: taffeta, reverse side used
Blue: same as above
Medium gray: Shantung silk
Dark gray: Wool suiting material
Darkest gray: Lycra

Our blue could stand to be a little more muted, and also be advised that the Lycra is a lot more sheer (see through) than we thought it would be. No big deal if you add a black slip underneath, but the biggest problem is that it would never be used for a suit, and it isn't really screen accurate, but we haven't found another fabric yet that has that shiny metallic texture that the Lycra has.

Thanks for the answer...it's always difficult to try recreating costumes and getting the right fabric/material for it. I like what you did with the Lycra, it adds something funky to the whole outfit Cool

Awesome costume; the fabric choices are great! I was at Dragoncon 2011 and I noticed a cosplay who looked like Deckard, so I walked up to him and I said, "Excuse me, are you Deckard?" His reaction was awesome, he was shouting out loud "SOMEONE FINALLY RECOGNIZES ME!" Laughing

We actually had quite a few people there who recognized us, but I think it was largely due to the combination of us, not either of us by ourselves (in fact, I had some people dressed as characters from Tombstone taking pictures with me, because they thought I was in western attire, in spite of the LEDs on my blaster).

As the lady whom checked out the snake scale said

I think it was manufactured locally... finest quality... superior workmanship.

Truly great work on Rachel's dress
