Anyone has seen this new show?

I saw the first two episodes and I noticed many themes and aesthetic details that reminds me of Blade Runner (and a little of Alien/Aliens)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEmzvgl-2WQ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYucy6YsRf4

Besides the overall look there are many interesting details like a line of androids (they are called synthetics) that has been recalled because they developed emotional unbalances. On the second episode the existence of a market for artificial sexual companions is revealed (pleasure models?)

One of the main characters is an android struggling to become more human.

Also the technician character who works on the androids seems to me a little inspired by by Sebastian. He seems kind of eccentric and looks like he builds artificial animals as a hobby.

My opinions only, but thirty two years later they are still ripping off BR. In this instance, several other classics as well. Not saying it isn't mildly entertaining, but you won't find anything new hereā€¦

TFS Futurepig...but I got to agree with Bwood on this one.
Sure, entertaining (some cars have been recycled from I-Robot...but I digress Wink ).
But the ideas are the same as BR, or Moebius if you want to be technical about it

Total Recall 2070 if you ask me. I just really wish they would stop saying "Ro-Bromance". I may refuse to see it if they continue saying it Razz

I guess there are not many fans here...

Hollywood ran out of ideas long time ago. Now all we have is remakes, sequels and prequels (another non-word!)

So this series could be consider a ripoff... or a homage...
It's been only two episodes. Lets see how it works. Most new shows are canceled when they fail to interest audiences.

I admit is not the most original show ever done, but I enjoy watching stuff with robots and flying cars.

I think it is a remake of a Danish or Swedish show anyway. I may check it out, but I wish they would stop trying to market it to teenagers.

Fred introduced us to the Swedish show ''Real Humans"...almost the same ideas being explored in there also: society's "racism" toward the artificial humans, the place they're taking in our daily life, underground trade of body part/reconfigured artificial, etc...

Unlike the American show, there was more kiss kiss than bang bang if you catch my drift Wink

I stumbled upon this show recently and have to say so far, its fantastic. Funny, dark and nicely realised is how Id sum it up. Sure, its borrowed from other universes but not in a "bad" way.Urbans great, at the very start I thought he was going to rehash Dredd but he does not.

Surprised to hear that its marketed to teenagers Andy, the second episode dealt with kidnapping, murder, prostitution, organ harvesting, skinning and racism,
they need to find a new marketing company.

Lots of cool props to drool over as well, some very nice shooters and straight away wanted one of the badge and Id`s. This Abrams guy never takes a break.

I guess I need to blame Entertainment weekly for the use of the terms Bromantic/Ro-Bromance.

I can see what you mean, they would have been better off just going with this version, less is more.

Just seeing Dredd with an apparent android army behind him would be enough to draw me in.

It just got picked up for a second season.

It doesn't rip off blade runner, it wears that on it's sleeve pretty obviously and IMHO lovingly. It drops in a few small music cues, or occasionally a neon filled street.

But anyway I love the show, love the props, love it's focus on technology, and I like the cast.

That ad is weird though, it doesn't capture the tone of the show at all. It's not shot in earth tones, no browns or warm colors. It's a lot of cold tones, blues, white, and such. And the look on Dorian's face is odd.

This would be a much more fair representation of the look of the show I think.

That's fantastic news Noeland, cheers. Knew there was a reason for getting up early today!

Im completely engrossed in this show, even screening out of order doesn't detract from what they are trying to do. High hopes the Blu Rays of season one have lots of extras.

It seems a big chunk of this thread didn't make it across in the upgrade. Don't tell me all my incredible theories on why JJ will probably end up directing the next Blade Runner
are lost in time like....tears in the rain Tom. Wink

It was an interview with Lili Taylor posted on the Almost Human facebook page, but I misread it, and the headline. My apologies.

No biggie, at worst the show is nailed and we have to do some editing at best it gets renewed and we look like geniuses.

I usually don't jump the gun like that. I just really want the show to continue.

According to the many news I read, it's unlikely that the show will be renewed Crying or Very sad

I am not a fan of this show.

Love Karl Urban and that's it.

So much mis-casting it hurts my eyes and ears to watch it. Lili Taylor is a wonderful actor but her on screen persona is FRAGILE - I would have a hard time believing a character she played could manage a Starbucks much less a police station.

I feel that Sci Fi like this wants to cash in on people loving the genre so much that they will make up for the deficiencies the creators saddle it with either by laziness or straight up lack of talent.

I dont see it that way. Despite the obvious constraints imposed by head office it proved to be a great mix of future and more familiar crime and the Beauty Killer episode was worthy of a
Twilight Zone plotline.

There are some areas that need attention only a series with two or three seasons in the bank already get to address properly such as character development etc.
If allowed to go on and given some breathing room from the suits , it should improve even further.
