Hi All,

I am not sure what the rules are for sharing photos, under what topic/area and whether this has been already accurately shared, but I managed to capture screenshots from the BR 30th Anniversary Blu-ray Edition that contained 1000 HD production photos. One set of photos had the worn Vid Phone Card developed by Tom Southwell. After tweaking them to get the right angle, trim, and clarity, here it is. The fans of this forum have been really great to me being new, so I wanted to give back. Hope you all enjoy and let me know your thoughts. Note: the card photo color will look richer once sized down to 1:1 scale.

TFS with us Master Blaster...as you know, Tom was on the board for a while and showed us the original he still has. I'm sure people around here will appreciate the sharing and will make something out of it Cool

This was a prototype. Bell telephone asked us to remove the logo from
the card, but allowed us to use it on the pay VidPhon in a place they
selected. Any cards used in the film did not have the Bell logo.

Thanks for the story Tom; strange that on the one hand Bell didn't allow it on the card, but on the other, did allow it on the Vid-Phon Confused

Joberg:
Yeah, that was a bit odd to me too, but I was quite grateful to get it
on the phone. Perhaps they wanted to exercise their control.
I think on my vid segment "Signs Of The Times" they show
the letter Bell sent to our lawyers where they point to where they
want their logo.

When I was on the phone with the Bell rep he said the Bell logo was
being retired and a new logo had been designed. I said "can we use
the new logo?". He said it hasn't been revealed yet, and "NO!"

Oh, sorry. I had one more late thought you might enjoy.
The art for the gold foil on the VidPhon card was based on a
"cross section"
of a transAtlantic telephone cable.
Not sure anybody needed to know that.

Thanks Tom.. I always wondered what the inspiration was for that design because it was so specific!

Great to have your input as always

High regards
MARK

Thanks Tom...now it makes sense about the cross-section of the cable.
Great idea for the overall design of the card Cool

That gold pattern is iconic! Even more awesome to realise it has relevance in that way Smile
