Understood, but as you did use the real world weapons names Bulldog and Steyr...so I read that as they upgraded them...

Pity about the matte finish, but otherwise, SWEET! Cool

Thanks for the photo, Phase Pistol. Looks great !
Indeed, the matte finish gives a different "look"... Does the bolt lever work good ? And is it easy to open the cylinder ? (sometimes it was hard the first times, with earlier Tomenosukes)

bolt has some slop. it is gonna rub the finish if you open it so I haven't done so with mine. Once I put the bullets in the cylinder will not open back up.

Bolt was tight on mine and it almost didn't open, but it did ultimately. Now I'll leave it alone so I don't damage the receiver, as was noted.

Haven't put bullets in yet but the cylinder opened OK on mine.

Hello,

for those who are waiting for their kit :

I got this today :

Box + the 5223 decal (why?)

First "level" of the box; I inserted the battery to check the 5 LEDS : they work.

The "bottom" of the box. I hope everything is there. The battery was in the plastic pack with the 2 green LEDs.
Looks like the weaver knob is "steel" and the (spare) slotted screw is black.

Instruction manual. Looks complicated, huh.

Since I'm a total beginner, maybe I'll only "blacken" some parts, without really "bluing". A black glossy paint for metal models should be ok ? Which brand and color would you choose ?

So many of these have been blued and I have to say (no disrespect to anyone) unless your a master gunsmith, without much success, of all the blued Tomenosukes Ive seen, I would say probably two of three got good results.

Not all metals are equal Smile you've probably got a higher chance of getting good results by using paint.

Just my opinion of course.

John.

I just got a letter from customs saying that I can pick my kit up when the import fee is payed, so I guess I'm in the clear Very Happy Hopefully I get my kit by monday or tuesday....

I'm considering the possibility of having it blued professionally for the same reasons you mention, John.......

Looking good there, Pierre990429 Very Happy

Very interesting! Tusind Tak, Buch !

And : it seems that at some point, both screws on the side of the LED compartment opposed to the switch had a little "ring" ? I wondered why the Takagi blaster had this.

Thanks for your input too, John.

Phase pistol, you also own the previous World-Con Tomenosuke Pro, correct? If so, I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on how its receiver and the Retailer's receiver match up. The photos I've seen thus far make the finish on both blasters look similar, yet everyone's talking about the matte finish on the Retailer, while I heard no such comments about the World-Con model.

The photos don't really capture what the eye sees. The Retailer is on top in this pic, the Worldcon on the bottom. The pic makes the Retailer grip seem too reddish (it's not that red). The WorCon has the infamous piss-yellow grip.

The receiver seems a bit lighter on the WorCon, but then it's a bit worn off from polishing and inserting into the holster. Also it's possible Nobu might have altered it a bit (he did a little polish and spiff-up on it before sending it).

Thanks for the explanation and comparison pic. I know what you mean about the blasters appearing different in photos. The WorCon can look really dark in some of the pics I've seen, but in person I've found its colours can vary greatly depending on the light.

For anyone tackling this blaster for the first time, it can be daunting if you've never blued zinc before. I built the previous Tomenosuke Pro kit and after a lot of trial and error I was happy with the results. It can be done but it's all about prep and technique. I still haven't weathered mine. Here's what it looks like:

Any color variations you see are more due to reflections in the surface than inconsistencies in the finish. Also notice how light the receiver looks in the 2nd photo. This is also due to reflections as the finish is pretty dark. I think this is a good representation of the finish seen in the movie, minus the weathering of course.

Keep in mind I was pretty much a Noob at this, so don't be afraid to blue your kit if that's the look you want.

If anyone is interested I wrote up a bluing guide. I think I mentioned it earlier in this thread, but I figured I'd mention it again now that another round of kits has come out.

It's long and boring with no photos, but it does work! PM me if you'd like it.

Sorry for the long post!
