|
|
Greetings everyone!
This is my first posting regarding projects being undertaken which I actually started on from reading through other posts and gaining inspiration.
I initially plan to make a Nostromo crew jacket that doesn't necessarily fall under the canon list as this is being made for casual/daily/everyday use.
I know that the crew all had their own various jackets, shirts, etc. I was just wondering if a jacket like this one here will work as a good base?:

If I end up purchasing a jacket like this or even this for that matter I would remove the patch on the sleeve.
Thank you and I look forward to as well as appreciate any information given _________________ "How do I get out of this chicken s*** outfit?" |

Welcome to Propsummit Endless1200. The pilot jacket you posted in your link can be purchased at second hand store (army surplus) for less than that price...unless you like that blue colour ( I can have one in green, in my neck of the wood, for $ 70) it's in Canadian fund mind you, probably less in the U.S.
Eager to see what kind of transfo you'll do when you have the jacket |

Thank you for the warm welcome
I'm gonna look around for the same jacket for a lower price than that and I plan on trying to get the Gunmetal color. The jacket is going to be modeled patch & logo layout-wise in the format of Dallas' crew jacket only in the gunmetal color. I'm just deciding around a few minor points such as whether to go with the light blue or black background Nostromo Patch for the shoulders.
I'm looking forward to working on this and if it turns out well I'll likely take a shot at doing the Dallas' jacket. _________________ "How do I get out of this chicken s*** outfit?" |

I think it's a great start. It has the utilitarian look (zippered pockets, snaps, knick collar and cuffs), and should make a great background to whatever you adorn it with, whether patches or pins. Some weathering and distressing would probably look good on it |

Thank you to you both ^_^
Any good tips for weathering once I get the jacket? _________________ "How do I get out of this chicken s*** outfit?" |

That Richardson Jacket looks sweet! I would try and make something from that as well. _________________ "How do I get out of this chicken s*** outfit?" |

You've to be careful about weathering nylon...difficult and tricky.
No solvents of any kind must be used on that jacket!!
I would just sleep in it Some paints can do the trick (water based of course, no alcohol is permitted on the nylon either).
You would have better luck with patches (a little 120 grit sandpaper would do the trick). Are you going to add the lacing on the sleeves/back/front? |

Thank you for the tips!
I'm still deciding if I'm going to go with or without the lacing for the sleeves and back. _________________ "How do I get out of this chicken s*** outfit?" |

I recall having a gray R.A.F. flight jacket and overalls that was somewhat reminiscent of one of the Alien costumes.....I wonder if I still have it, hmmm. _________________

Per the Alpha jacket, no matter what color it is, put some "Alien Covenant" patches on it and it'll be cool. There doesn't seem to be a uniform or a set placement of patches on the clothing, so do whatever with it! _________________ "I have been arrested three times, and I have stolen a vehicle, and I also punched a police officer's horse in the mouth on St. Patrick's day.
