Sad but true..

From another post:

Yeah, it's warped but that can be corrected to some degree but the details fall short along with some other issues,

And you can see the cocking lever and other details are just casted in not their own parts...

Guess it is just a dummy model...

I saw some other pictures that were slightly better as far as the warpage, but not by a whole lot. This looks like one of the bad 90s recasts or the famous "Ugly Blaster" that was a single clear part recast of Rick Ross's PKD2 and had all the parts on the wrong places. The one good thing about that one is that it cost $20 originally. The material they used did not cool evenly and should have been made in a couple more parts just to even out the thicknesses of material. I came close to ordering one of these, and am glad I didn't. Ryosuki I hope had not signed off on these. They seem to have been made by someone else using his name, so he may have just provided the master.

I could see these being sold as cosplay replica toys, but for around $30 at most. I guess that some of the repaints of the cheap Chinese toy knock offs are selling for $50 to over $100, they felt justified with the idea of it being more accurate. The accurate details only mean something to us sticklers, and no one wants one that looks like Salvador Dali cast it. I have a feeling a bunch of these will in the end be dumped in the aftermarket for hugely discounted prices, unless they can fix the problems, and exchange all the affected blasters.

It is still very much a "Stunt" version and more than double the cost of say a Wilco Blaster, the best cheap model that is actually a recast of a recast. At least when made out of resin you don't get the warpage, usually just bubbles and seams unless the mold itself was not reinforced.

It is pretty disheartening, and one of the reasons I am losing faith in collecting all the models of this gun anymore. I am disappointed by the lack of perfection on the top models, and am no longer willing to pay the now inflated prices of the lower end models. This is not as much fun anymore.

Andy

I understand Andy's point of view.

Another reason it may be less fun is we NOW know what it was and how it was put together.

The hunt for the original prop and the information was a big part of the fun, but that is over.

With Karl Tate's photos and my work on recreating the original blaster and all the copies others have made like Tomenosuke Pro and my latest model there is no holy grain to seek any more.

I agree Rich, the only grail or possible grail is a second hero gun used in the movie. The day someone can actually say that he/she has that one is the day I'll eat my hat Wink

...just took delivery of this blaster via Hobby Japan...I managed to get an unwarped copy and given the hundred buck price I am quite satisfied with it...that being said when I put it next to the hundred buck Tomenosuke rubber stunt it pales by comparison...the level of detail and larger SIZE of Tomenosuke stunt stand out BIG time...overall I got what I paid for with no complaints...apologies for lack o pix...

Disappointing. My stand arrived today and the Blaster is due to arrive tomorrow or Monday from HLJ. I'm not looking forward to this now.

Rich, if mine is just completely intolerable I will order your kit after seeking a refund. That should get you closer to your 10 order minimum for the run.

Having just read this thread, I don't think I'm gonna bother with this gun. Where can I find more details about the kit that Rich is putting together?

Cheers
