Anyone recommend the best type of glue to adhere the ribbon/seal together?

Others may disagree, but here's some suggestions, Nexus.

There are several ways to go here, depending on skill and just how permanent you want this to be . . .

It's always best to test anything out first on something not so valuable. Test the position and fit, and test the glue on something disposable.

SUPER GLUES
There's always the Super Glues, but they can be tricky. There are various brands, but hobby stores also generally carry differing grades/viscocities. My local hobby shop carries about 4 grades: the regular, VERY fluid version - using capillary action it flows readily into every crack and crevice - great for styrene, but it can get away from you and you can wind up with your fingers glued together. I would advise against that one. And then there are the others - thicker versions that are not so fluid and take a bit longer to cure. If you are hesitant, the thicker the better. There are about 3 or 4 levels here.

Here's a link to one thicker super glue:
http://www.chasedentalsupply.com/insta-cure-gap-filing.aspx?gclid=CjwKEAjwu72pBRC9hsn2-e34vRUSJACnSYsTIYh2_sUeYdUi4_42Fg2Of76Fh9gQndi5THk8Tr9OnRoClU_w_wcB

EPOXIES
Next are the epoxies, usually a two part goop with an applicator or that you mix by hand. Again, there are a variety and they range in application and curing time. Read the labels and see what each is recommend for: wood, metal, glass, PVC plastics. You will want what best suits the materials here.

RUBBER CEMENT
Even something like rubber cement might work, if you don't what such a permanent bond.

PUTTIES
Lastly there are adhesive putties, mixed by hand in equal amounts, parts A & B, but these vary as well in their adhesive qualities and take about an hour to harden.

To apply glues I usually use a small brush that can be discarded. With shorter working times this seems to afford the most control. Squirting adhesive from a tube can be disastrous!

Again, be patient and test it first.

Hope this helps. - R13

Great post. Thanks for the reply. I tested a bit of the more watery super glue on the ribbon fabric and of course it just soaked right through it. I may end up going the rubber cement route.

Thanks, again!

Bottle arrived in perfect condition! I had previously owned the first run that was made a couple of years back but it was cracked due to shipping. The Murano glass on this one is far more superior than my old one in every way. Very happy with this purchase, I'm sure whoever purchases this bottle will see how beautiful and sold this craftsmanship is and WON'T be disappointed. This is a heavy bottle which shows it's quality. A+ Seller! Thanks again!

Here's a picture of my fiancé adding the labels.

As glue you can also use egg white, works a charm, transparent and easy to remove if need be Wink

My bottle arrived yesterday. It's an absolute beauty. Already full to the brim with Black Label, and has found a nice spot in my collection.
