|
|
Hi, (Crated Chess Set Sold)
With great difficulty, I have decided to sell my last remaining Lighted Chess Board and Crated Bird Chess Set. Each of these items were the first ones I built before making a very limited run of each.
The chess board has a custom LED panel and transformer that plugs into a 110V wall outlet and is constructed of solid select pine in a distressed red mahogany stained finish.
The Crated Set is also constructed of solid select pine in a distressed golden oak finish to resemble and old crate without actually being an old crate.
The chess pieces were cast in s polymerized gypsum resin and finished in faux ivory and antique red. Only two to three sets were made in this material in 2008. It proved to be too costly, so I later switch over to mineral filled urethane resin. This is one of those early sets.
Here are links to the images.

From the board to the pieces to the crate, all items were made to appear old, worn, and mildly distressed, in order to fit into the Blade Runner universe.
I have discontinued making the lighted board and crated sets.
The resin chess pieces are temporarily discontinued due to a change in work space and the need for new molds.
The Lighted Chess Board is SOLD
The Crated Set is SOLD
If any one is interested in these last two items, PM me.
Thank you very much.

Outstanding. Good luck with the sale, Rick. Would love to grab the lighted board someday. The timing's not right with my funds, tho. Please keep us posted if you should sell it. |

Holy crap. I just got the set, Rick.
To quote Contact... "No. Words."
I'll post photos of the unboxing tonight.
Rick, you are a true master and deserve every good thing in life. I've had nothing but courteous, genuine and passionate conversations with you. This piece of art can only be equated to the first time my grandparents took me to Disney as a child in the early 80s. The Tiki Room, the Swiss Family Robinson Tree, the Pirates, the Haunted Mansion.
You, sir, are someone who creates objects that can inspire a sense of child-like wonder. You should be running a studio or "dream shop" full time.
And with all that said, did you sell the chess board? I may need it now |

Thank you very much for your kind words about my work! I am happy to hear that you like the crated set. I remember very vividly what it was like to open a toy back in the 70's. Whether it was G.I. Joe, Johnny West, or Rock'em Sock'em Robots, the box art was so much part of the experience for me. I tried to relay a similar feeling with this set. I wanted it to be much more than just the birds set. I wanted it to feel as though it came from Sebastian's world. I hope I achieved that in some way. Thank you again for purchasing it. I wish you a life time of enjoyment with it.
Sincerely,
Rick
PS: yes the light board is still available.

Your packaging is just astounding, Rick. Works of art by themselves. The letter to Sebastian inside the box was an inspired touch.

You can count on Rick to produce quality props and objects. From the outside to the inside, the whole experience is worth any money in this world.
You're right Rick when you said that unpacking a toy in the old day was incredibly satisfying |

Nexus7,
Congratulations on your recent purchase.
I felt the same way when I purchased a standard set from Rick. I was incredibly impressed with all of the little details he put in. Rick's work is worth the credits. If I had the money, I'd snap up the lighted chess board.
Cheers!
