My Smirnoff No 99 bottle arrived today. Here it is:

Seemed a shame to lose the label for such an antique. So I Googled ways to preserve the label.

Basically, the most successful way is to get a bowl of warm water and put a load of Baking Soda (Bicarbonate of Soda) into the water. I put in a good 4-5 tablespoons and mixed it up. Left for around 15-20 mins....

Literally just came off.

I'll make a point of scanning it!

So here's the No 99 bottle(sans label) with the 500ml Smirnoff de Czar bottle...waiting for the paintin!!

Nicely done for sure.

For those who want to add a little more depth to their bottles with paint, as long as you use child safe water based paint mixed with water, it will simply rinse out if you want a pristine bottle again down the track.

I have the screw top on my large bottle and I kinda wish I had the cork. Confused

(although I am told that corks can dry out and shrink)

That's exactly what happened to mine, the cork shrunk so much that I would dare putting liquid in as the seal was non existent
