Fantastic .. along a similar note I watched a great video on Eastern art fakes last night it was very cool how for the last 200 years reproductions have been made in the case of the eastern art there is a question are they reproduction or fake?? But good video, interesting and there was a part about Buddhas.. all of these same images are still being made in the same foundries.. by the residents so are they fake .... I say no they are reproductions.. but just as beautiful.

ATTENTION!

Good news guys: I have FIVE buddha kits ready. They will go up for sale this Sunday at 17:00 CET. No pre-order; first-come, first-served. Sales add will go up in the sales thread. Not in this thread.

The price will be $US45 + shipping ($10 in Europe, $20 everywhere else).

You will receive the two buddha heads and two stands to pose them on. All parts are raw unpainted resin. One stand is slightly higher to allow a screen accurate pose as seen here, but a traditional pose is also possible...

As some of you requested: A basic paint guide for the buddha kits Very Happy

You’ll need:

- Brushes in different sizes
- Paints (gold, copper, black and white and many different shades of green and brown)
- Washes (black and brown)
- Pigments (rust and green)
- Pigment binder
- Chipping medium
- Water
- Paper towels
- Optional: Gold and copper leaf (eBay)
- Youtube videos on doing weathering and paint chipping

The pointed head Buddha:

- Prime figure with gold paint - or for an even better look: apply real gold leaf!
- Apply brown paint and wipe off again with paper towels (use increasingly darker shades of brown for each application)
- Use brown and black wash to add further shading and weathering
- Apply rust pigment to grooves and crevices
- Use different shades af green/brown paint and chipping medium to achieve paint residue effect

The rounded head Buddha:

- Prime figure with copper paint - or for an even better look: apply real copper leaf!
- Apply grey paint and wipe off again with paper towels (use increasingly darker shades of grey for each application)
- Use brown and black wash to add further shading and weathering
- Apply rust pigment to grooves and crevices
- Use different shades af bright green paint and chipping medium + green pigment to achieve verdigrised effect

Here's a few shots of the latest I finished...

As inspiration and reference here's few shots of the originals…
