|
|
Hi guys!
I won a Dazor lamp on Ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Beautiful-Vintage-1940s-1950s-Dazor-Desk-Lamp-in-great-original-condition-/152128149383?
The thing is it's missing that fiberglass shade so I was wondering what are your thoughts on that?
Do you think I should buy it anyway and try to find or replicate the part myself? Or should I skip it, and look for a better one?
The thing is the shipping will probably cost a lot, so I'm not really sure about buying a lamp with missing parts?
Thanks for your answer!!! |

I think replicating the dome would be insanely difficult and expensive.
Off the top of my had probably vacu-forming it would be the cheapest route but can'y imagine someone doing a buck and a pull for less than $150. |

Hm.. what the heck, I decided to buy it!
It's going to be a good challenge at least!
Could I trouble you guys for a couple of detailed photos of your shades, especially of the mounting mechanism?
Thanks A LOT! |

I only, just now realized that Deckard's Dazor is spun upside down, yet the arm has the same bend as if it were the normal way. |

I figured you can spin the head, so they just turned it upside down, right? Although I never saw one in real life so I can't be sure.. |

I think if you turn it upside down you'd have to spin the whole arm. I think the arm is bolted to the disc.
(I purchased one but I don't have it, yet) |

That's a great buy because you have the same colour scheme as the screen used one, black stand and arm with a dark gun metal gray saucer dish, very hard to find.
Start a thread at therpf Luka to get ideas on different ways to replicate the missing diffuser. Grab some pics of a complete one to get non Blade Runner people
involved as well. I`ve racked my head for a couple of hours but just the usual tumbleweeds. Title the thread "How do I replicate this" maybe.

Thanks a lot for your idea Mr. Webber!
Yeah, as soon as it arrives I'll make a RPF thread, and post it here too.
I'll probably need help with correct measurements of the original part!
I'll be in touch! Thanks for your comments.. |
