I was doing my usual eBay rounds this morning, and came across this ad. Has anyone seen one of these in person? Forget the Ghost, THIS would make one fancy-pants blaster Smile

Mother of pearl..... of course! That would be one heck of a blaster!

If it's ever done I'll be first in line...

What color lights would it have?? Not reds....

I think they make purple / black light LEDs... that might be cool. Otherwise blue would definitely look great, but I could also see yellow working. Kind of makes me want to try electro etching my Tomen receiver, but she's been through so much already...

Maybe whatever kit I get next, though!

Not much of a stretch to send a Steyr upper (real or replica) to one of the many skilled gun engravers out there and have him go at it. Jewel the exposed portion of the bolt, Ivory grips (from legal, harvested ivory), jeweled (engraving, not stones) triggers, etc.

Retirement gift, a commemorative blaster, for a retiring Bladerunner unit cop.

I love this idea so much. Would honestly be a perfect use for an all-metal Sid, though I could see it being just as nice in any other configuration. The outer grip frame, the trigger-guard... would be totally outrageous.

I can't get this idea out of my head....

How much would a professional engraving of receiver cost you guys think?

Purple lights for the win! Plain ice-cold white leds could work too...

I started looking into it last night, and it's all priced project to project it seems based on the amount of coverage. I have a creeping suspicion it wouldn't be cheap... At least for hand-engraving. There is also laser engraving which would be cheaper, though perhaps lack the soul/je ne sais quoi of the hand engraving.

I'm thinking very seriously about moving on this idea, though. Just gotta decide which base to start off of. Tomen would be the most affordable if that new kit were available yet, but Rich's or a Sid would let you go a little more hog-wild.

Funny that no one thought about that variation for a BR gun
But, as others have said, or drooled Very Happy this would make the ultimate gun to have!

I think this design would look the best on a Coyle or a Sid...

If you ever go as for as getting a price quote somewhere, let me know Very Happy

I saw one of those in person at a gun show about 4 years back in Ohio. The seller was asking $6000 for it if memory serves.

Shocked

I'm sure worth the price to a collector somewhere.

I've had knives engraved and I have some engraved shotguns. This is an interesting idea.

Normally an engraver charges based on the technique (chisel style or electric engraver) and the design. I wonder what kind of Bladerunner universe design would be cool? I don't want a typical hunting gun design which usually incorporates birds, game, and flowers.

Maybe an LAPD (BR era) commemorative design or something?

Anyone with ideas please chime in. I may have something like this done to my spare Coyle Worldcon.

Maybe engraved with Mottos of various movies would do (or not).
Thinking of what the Marines in Aliens had on their weapons:" Alta la Vista" for example...or "No Hope", Rep Eraser, Be Still My Heart, etc...I'm sure others will have better ones than mine Wink

I was actually thinking that those would oddly fit the universe well, although perhaps taking on different meaning. Since they are so rare, I figured the majesty of a natural world full of wild animals would inspire awe in a profound way.

Just out of curiosity (since you've had it done before) what would be a normal price for a job like this? I've been getting some quotes that while not outrageous to me considering the labor are definitely quite high, and I don't want to get squeezed.

I think animal design is perfect! As Veektohr says, animals play an important role in the movie plus this kind of design has a slightly old school touch to it that also fits perfectly with the themes.... a gun in remembrance of the lost world

I would go with owls and oak leafs...

A slightly more crazy idea would be unicorns! Not My little pony style, but more heroic like the Scottish coat of arms...
