I hope you solved the problem with the lighting of the two rod LEDs;
Still trying to fix those on my Silver Ghost... feeling a bit disappointed and frustrated.
Sorry I didn't reply earlier (real life issues) : but I think it's too complicated (customs, fear of lost packages, and also not being able to mount it back) to dismantle my Silver Ghost and send you the parts back for repair. Well, even with the 5 module LEDs only, it's still Ok.
The gun is rather fragile (maybe because of the plating), and some parts feel loose. One screw already fell off, too. Luckily I spotted it before it was lost. Also, the barrel does not rotate. (due to the material used, Rich told me)
And careful when you put the LED module in and out : the "plating layer" is thin and gets off on some spots.
Don't take this post bad, Rich, but I think I had to relate - honestly - my experience with this Silver Ghost model.
Cheers,
and get well soon !

I tested and tested your model to insure it was a good one.
I still say it is easy to remove the ammo housing, two screws hold it and the side cover also only two screws hold it and each part wrapped up in soft cloth and then bubble wrap should travel well.
Shipping such a small package should be low cost and should have NO problem in returning marked as a to be repaired part. And back to you as a repaired part.
I waited for your reply before putting one of the remaining one of two built models on eBay.
Yes I do believe these are 95% display only models, and yes the plating is a little touchy.
That is why these are going to be so rare and special as I will never do these again.

I will also point out that I have built all eight models. Yours was only one of these eight. All have worked fairly well.
I only considered six as first line models and two were slightly less and you asked for one of those two and I sent the best of those two.
So there seemed to be nothing that needs fixing. Granted IF I was to ever consider making any more of these I would make a slight improvement with this snap in spring loaded system. They did not engage the lock as well and I had planed.
None the less everyone I have built has worked AOK.
And until I can get your ammo housing and clip/mag in my hands to see what is wrong I cannot say I know what is wrong.
My best guess at this point is the sanded inside “T” Nut has gotten bent and might be stopping the insertion of the clip.
I know that all eight housings and clips/mags WERE working fine here before I shipped them and that only one of the first four had any problem with this feature and it was easily fixed.
As every part is custom made and custom fitted to each other part I cannot just ship a second clip/mag to you (as you asked for) and even think it will fit, and lastly as there were only ten models started, and out of them only 8 reached finished and of the two left over clip/mags one was totally lost when I over super glued it and glued both switches in place thus ruining one totally and the other was used to fix the one of the first five shipped. That one was a plating problem mainly.
And I cannot make any more as to get the ten it took about thirty plus tries both wearing both me and the molds out…plus it will cost around $200.00 (the minimum) for plating. And I would have to have 4 plated to be sure of getting one good one.
The plating work was a nightmare of redos and returns at least about five remaking of major parts and the use of three plating shops to get these even done. The biggest problem was the first plating shop did not know about plating pewter, a number of my parts were bent in their hands, and you cannot bent plated parts back.
Also they did not know (nor did I) know you CANNOT strip off bad plating and then replate pewter, which we later learned about.
I ended up working out ways to hold the bendable parts with extra parts in place...like inner grip frames for the outer frames and rear caps to hold the receivers side in place.
There is a very real reason these took over a year to do and only my health was a part of it.
As I have said never again.
In your case I am willing to get your housing and clip in and IF NEEDED to replace it or them with parts from the remaining three and IF NEEDED to fix yours and more or less junk one of the remaining three to get yours working...consider I might lose a third model completely to fix yours.
I do not think I can offer any more.
I do think and hope I will be able to save that last model BUT you come first and IF I cannot save that last model I figure I will fit a Black plastic clip and then use Black Grips and make a Silver/Black version.
Might even sell well as a One of a Kind.

It seems my timing was off. The auction for the Silver ghost ended on the same night we chose a new President.
So as everyone eyes were on that event no one bid on my model.
So I have relisted it here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nickel-Plated-Blade-Runner-Movie-Prop-Blaster-by-Richard-Coyle-/192024306927?
These are the rarest Blade Runner model of all time and will never be made again by myself. _________________ I never have enough time to do all I want to do! |
