Gotta start somewhere and it looks like bottles are out and high end decanters are in.
Closest one so far......

I'm not set up for space to collect a bunch of new glassware, but if the JW bottle doesn't at least make an appearance in 2049 I might be a little disappointed. |

Wouldn't it be Ironic if they start buying some of the replicas we make like the JW bottle.

The crystal version of the JW bottle would have been perfect for the film set, nice and strong and could take a few knocks.
You raise an interesting point Andy, how are they going to work with the branding situation that was so prominent in the original? Didn't they just pick and choose which name they wanted back then.
In the new trailer the only nod to the past I could spot is a much smaller version of the old style ribbon Coca Cola neon logo. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Nowadays some companies want much moola for royalties, just for showing their logo on the screen. Others forbid you to use their trademarks and...well, you get the picture. This ain't 1982 anymore |

No, they pay big moola to put their images on the screen. more they did in 1982. Only a handfull of the companies paid anything, and only enough to pay for the neon sign, or they just sent them the signage. Now days they fight over getting their stuff seen on screen. Ironically, it had a lot to do with another 1982 film, ET. M&Ms were supposed to be the candy he was lured with, but Reese's Pieces and Hershey was willing to pay more to get them onscreen, and sales went through the roof. Of course it depends on the demographic of the film, and many may wish to avoid the Blade Runner curse of the first film.

I had always thought that it was "2001" that killed Pan-Am. |

No, Pan-Am continued for a couple more decades after 2001 (the film, not the year), and they were number one for while between the films. I think Ridley chose a Pan-Am though as an homage to 2001.

The decanters imply to me that JW wont be getting involved in any way, they have shown zero imagination, appreciation or even recognition of their most famous on screen representation. Bummer.
Deckard`s such an old lush, from the looks of his new digs the only thing he grabbed from the old place was the Cibi`s. . _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Great spot, Mr Webber! I was wondering how long it would be before someone tracked down the decanters (or close-to likenesses).
Time to start saving the pennies, I think 2017 is going to be an expensive year! |

Andy, you're right about companies/corps lobbying Hollywood to place their names/products on the screen; it's been going on for a long, long time in Tinsel Town
Other companies are waiting in the background to see if someone is using their logo/products/trademarks without permission...lot's of money to be made in front of the courts! |

I had rather hoped for HOT TOYS, considering the incredible likenesses they are now capturing in their 1/6 scale figures.

A complete line of figures from Hot Toys would be an instant buy... Deckard in the western shirt, Roy in the long leather coat, Rachel... hmm... black or grey suit... Real hair! Chew with all the gear!! Oh man......... I could go on.... never gonna happen _________________ Monsieur, azonnal kövessen engem bitte |

I'm sure most here are familiar with the work/offerings of Scott Pettersen (http://spettersenart.blogspot.com/).
He fills that gap beautifully with some incredible sculpts and amazing figures - from their likenesses to the screen-accurate apparel and the accessories. But with his limited runs, pricing is quite high - beyond most budgets - understandably so, considering the work that goes into each. The figures are extremely well done, with likenesses that approach those of HOT TOYS. I only wish I could afford the entire line.
He has done most of the characters at this point - currently creating J.F. Sebastian in his colorful outfit (above). I think that only leaves Leon, Eldon Tyrell and Chew, possibly Holden, as he has returned to Deckard with a second version a couple of years ago.
I can appreciate his work, but sadly, must do so from a distance. And, as you say, it's rather doubtful he will have any competition in his corner of the market. - R13 _________________ Gosh, you've really got some nice toys here . . . |

Although it ticked all the boxes both artistically and commercially Fury Road didn't produce anything much in the collectables market which was a HUGE disappointment.
Have to saddle up again with hopes for 2049. Who knows what little delights of design we are yet to see. It goes without saying regardless of how its received on debut, I will want
O.K`s blaster just to have the set, not a big blaster guy even.
As for the figures I think the ones that are available here cant be bested but if NECA want to speed things up a little, a Patrolman figure with full kit would be appreciated. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |
