Aren't these just the same improvements as the HCG Exclusive Ultimate Evolution something? = Not new improvements for this exact edition, but just for this generation?

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed...
By all accounts it looks like Hollywood Collectibles is not only using this as an opportunity to increase their profit margin on these blasters, but they're doing it on a version that's been made cheaper for a reason: it is not the same quality level as the previous versions.
I hate making an argument without the evidence to back it up, but I can't seem to find the blog post (I know I have it bookmarked, and I'll edit it back in when I find it) where it was stated, in writing, that the reason these blasters are cheaper this time around is because the fade on and off effect on the magazine lights has been removed, the rounds are made of a cheaper material, and the box and packaging won't be as presentable...
This is the sort of thing that will ensure that I not only skip buying this version of the blaster from HCG, but I probably would never buy anything from them in the future after this either... |

I'm not disappointed. Minor changes, lower price. Works for me. Pre-ordered the kit. So much fun! _________________ Monsieur, azonnal kövessen engem bitte |

I ordered the kit, too, and since it's coming directly from Mune & Co. and not through HCG, I have no issue there.
When you say lower price, Buch, are you referring to the pre-assembled model through HCG? Were previous versions bought through them more than $899? |

Yeah, it wasn't my intent to be critical of the quality at all. Tomenosukes are amazing replicas, no matter what the package or dummy rounds are made out of. I adore all my Tomens.
I was just citing the fact that the cost reduction measures that had been taken on Tomenosuke's end in production of this version weren't being translated through to the HCG price.
My "disappointment" is all about that creative pricing on HCG's end. |

Mune didn't know when they were going to release the kit, though. At least that's what he told me. I'm on his pre-order list too, but nothing written in stone yet. I'm wondering how some websites and even ebayers are already taking money for pre-orders... |

I sent an email to get one of the kits but have not received a reply. How long did it take for you to know you were on the list? |

Mune usually takes his time getting back about things. I think it's a pretty small core team over there... |

Wouldn't that make one of the earlier Tomenosuke Pro's perfectly screen accurate (with the exception of the weathering) by definition? |
=============================================
Meh....It's just typical marketing crap and hype.
They know people want these and they are all going to sell anyway.
Earlier similar tooled TomPRO's are not perfectly screen accurate...neither are the new current 2049 versions. With or without the weathering.
Good replicas though and people still want them...still in demand I gather. For the avid collector, you also get a new box graphic that says 2049 on it....
...worth an extra attention, even though the blaster has not changed much at all in the past two or three years.
....plus you get the number 17 stamped inside the gun grips to assist in authenticity and to differentiate the new from the old since they are looking very similar on the outside.
EDIT:- August 2017. The July 2017 release of the Blaster 2049 movie version apparently has been released with inside of the amber grips stamped '2016'..... Not '17'. Not sure if all of them have the 2016 stamp or imprint. Tomenosuke say the 2016 imprinted grips were adopted for the assembled 2049 model blaster. The '17' grips were eventually intended for the stunt and kit models. '17' grips did not get used for some reason...probably later Tomenosuke releases. For now most Tom' releases will bear the 2016 imprint signifying the 2016 amber grip moulds and design which are still good for current blaster releases. Not sure if this is exact but that is what I gathered from communications with Mune (CEO, Manager) of Hollywood-Japan website.

Yeah.... Pretty sneaky of HCG.
Some people may want to call them out on it to see if they yield maybe. HCG know they will sell regardless....
...some are on the wait list I guess that will grab these blasters. |

I just put my kit on preorder today. I already have one
but I loved building my first kit so I couldn't resist. I'm
not sure if I want to weather this kit or build this one as
issued and weather the one I have now. So many decisions . |

I am still baffled how they can call it an "ultimate evolution" with that matte receiver looking the way it does. |

As far as I can see in the pictures the finish of version 2049 is superior to that of the version PRO Retailer Edition than I have although the latter is more pristine than in the picture:

Those are often idealized/promo photos, not necessarily corresponding exactly to every model manufactured. It's understandable.

So far, I've never felt misled by any photos that Tomenosuke has published of their blasters.
Reason why I own three of them, I suppose... _________________ 26354 |

My first blaster was a Tomenosuke Pro "Retail" version and the pictures with which they announced it in HCG and the blaster i received were the same.
With the PRO Retailer version none of the pictures i posted above coincided with the blaster that i received although they announced it with this one:
By the way it is the same picture with they are announcing the 2049 version.
To finish with the subject they also say that in this "ultimate evolution" the color of the grips, shape, receiver etc. etc... are improved but comparing my two blasters they seem to me absolutely the same except for the outer finish and the grips of the PRO Retailer version that are a little more clear but not as much as in the pictures.
Anyway i am very happy with my two blasters.
(Sorry for my english).
